    About My Eden Voice

    My Eden Voice is a member-based organization that builds community power in unincorporated Alameda County towards a vision of a community where residents are proud to live and work, with affordable housing, economic prosperity, quality education, and a healthy environment for generations to come. We are looking for an early-career Communications Associate to strategically develop, coordinate, and distribute internal and external messaging to effectively promote an organization's mission, initiatives, and values to key stakeholders.

    Job Overview

    The Communications Associate will be responsible for working with our staff and members to develop and manage internal and external communications, social media, content creation, and ensuring consistent branding across various channels. This role is ideal for someone interested in building a career in impactful communications, who learns quickly, and has a strong desire to collaborate with others. You would report directly to the Co-Director of Organizational Development and Strategy.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and schedule engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) that amplifies our narrative. This includes posts, carousels, reels, stories, etc.
    • Coordinate the writing and editing of member newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and other marketing materials.
    • Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
    • Support the execution of communication campaigns and initiatives to amplify our public narrative.
    • Support staff in co-creating narrative strategies and building communication capacities of residents.
    • Monitor and analyze social media engagement and provide reports on key engagement metrics to improve member communication.
    • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
    • Work with MEV members and resident community leaders to support their contribution to our communications, including providing training on the utilization of various tools.
    • Willing to work outside of normal business hours. Some nights and weekends are required.

    Qualifications

    We prioritize individuals who can demonstrate they are excited about telling stories to build resident-led campaigns and willing to take on challenges. Below are the desired skills you might bring to the role. We recognize that one person might not have all of the below skills and encourage you to apply if you are excited by the opportunity even if you do not meet all of the qualifications.

    • Coursework or experience in Mass Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Narrative/Story-telling, Experiential Communication or a related field where you have crafted cohesive public or strategic narratives and communication engagement strategies.
    • 1-2 years of experience in communications, journalism, social media management, or marketing. This may include internships or other work study experiences.
    • Familiarity with social justice movements and grassroots campaigns
    • Experience working in neighborhood groups and/or grassroots community-based settings is welcomed.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, can communicate across teams and demographics.
    • Strong understanding of social media and other digital communications platforms.
    • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools, or an aptitude to learn quickly
    • Ability to work independently and has a high attention to detail
    • Willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done
    • Written and spoken proficiency in Spanish
