Facilities Manager

The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) is a growing institution that provides insight into the evolving, creative, human, and aesthetic nature of mathematics to a diverse audience of all ages. Its interactive exhibits and stimulating programs encourage inquiry, spark curiosity, and reveal the wonders of math.

MoMath is seeking a responsible, efficient, and energetic individual to oversee the daily facilities needs of the Museum. This is an on-site, regular full-time position based in New York City. It offers a full suite of benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Museum management.
• Contact, manage, and oversee the work of facilities-related vendors for routine maintenance and needed repairs.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs, including unclogging drains and fixing leaks.
• Conduct light repairs such as adjusting fixtures, replacing bulbs, and patching walls.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, and facility equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, operational, and safety activities.
• Follow all safety policies, report hazards, and complete required safety training/certifications.
• Collaborate effectively with Museum staff and communicate clearly with all departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support Museum operations.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to safely move, lift, and transport objects up to 50 lbs; climb ladders/stairs; bend, twist, and reach as needed.
• Must have a minimum of two years working in a professional facilities environment, preferably one open to the public.
• Must have experience using a wide variety of tools and equipment.
• Must present a neat, professional appearance.
• Must be flexible to come in early or stay late as needed to meet vendors or attend to urgent repairs. Occasional weekend work must also be accommodated as needed.

The salary range for this position is $66,300 to $80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
