Kids on the Move (KoM) Coordinator
Hours per week: 40 hours per week
Kids on the Move Coordinator reports the Kids on the Move Program Manager and Curriculum Manager.
Exempt, 1.0 FTE
Organization Overview
Project Commotion is a community-based organization located in the Mission District of San Francisco. Our mission is to foster healthy development in children of all abilities through purposeful movement, play, and family and community relationships. We serve children, youth, families, and educators through movement-based programming. Our programs are bilingual English/Spanish and taught in an inclusive environment where all participants can flourish physically, socially, and emotionally.
Position Summary
The Kids on the Move Coordinator is a movement instructor and administrator responsible for teaching classes for children/youth and overseeing Project Commotion’s (PC) DCYF-funded, VAPA/Healthy Schools-funded services, and PC Movement Classes. The Coordinator delivers classes in PC’s movement-based curricula to preschool through high school students and manages program-related administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of multiple programs. This role combines educational instruction, leadership, and administrative support to contribute to the overall success of the organization. The Kids on the Move Coordinator works across two programs: Schools on the Move, and PC Movement Classes.

- Teaching Duties
- Lead and/or co-teach movement classes and private lessons
- Co-create curricular content with support of co-teachers and the Curriculum Manager
- Lead/assist in adult education workshops as part of comprehensive residency programs
- Establish strong relationships with students, teachers, and families that facilitate open and ongoing communication
- Participate in group and individual reflection with Curriculum Manager around teaching and curriculum
- Administration Duties
- Support Manager with center communication and residency scheduling
- Collect end of session teacher surveys and organize data for end-of-year report
- Conduct pre and post-service meetings with centers
- Collect and input class attendance on a weekly basis
- Write end-of-month funder reports
- Support with program evaluation as assigned by funders alongside Program and Curriculum Managers
- Manage enrollment and payment for PC Classes
- Run monthly enrollment report for Accountant
- Coordinate event outreach with Administrative and Marketing Coordinator and Program Manager
- Attend resource fairs related to event outreach
Position Qualification Requirements
Education: BA Degree required, an emphasis in Child Development, Dance, Kinesiology or Arts Administration is preferred or a minimum of five years lived/professional experience in the field.
Language(s): Bilingual, bi-literate highly preferred; English/Spanish/Cantonese or other language ability including American Sign Language, Tagalog, etc.
Experience Requirements:
- Movement or Sports background
- Experience w/in a localized community setting (school, housing facility, hospital, summer camp, etc)
- Experience facilitating groups of children and/or adults of varying sizes.
- Experience with curriculum development/ lesson planning.
- Experience with Google suite including spreadsheets
- Experience collaborating within organizations and across various systems
- Evidence of strong written communication skills
Logistical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis. Set up, breakdown, and movement of gym, classroom, and outdoor equipment. Must be able to move up and down to be on children’s level throughout the day.
- Current Physical Health Screening (every 2 years thereafter)
- Fingerprinting Clearance (DOJ)
- Current Immunizations (TB, Influenza, MMR, Pertussis) (every 2 years thereafter) Project Commotion requires all in-person staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Complete Mandated Reporter Training
- Current CPR & First Aid Certificate (every 2 years thereafter)
Schedule, Pay and Benefits
Work Schedule
40 hours weekly beginning in August 2026. Some weekend and evening shifts are required, according to event, meeting and outreach schedules.
Salary
$68,640-$72,800 dependent on experience
