    ABOUT BASTA

Basta helps first-generation students turn college degrees into strong careers by transforming how they enter and advance in the workforce. Basta's flagship platform, Seekr, is powered by millions of data points from more than 70,000 first-generation career journeys and combines precision matching, personalized guidance, and structured pathways to help students secure strong first jobs. With a presence on 300+ campuses, Basta helps institutions scale career support while connecting employers to high-performing talent that traditional hiring systems often overlook. Basta advances economic mobility for first-generation students nationwide.

    ABOUT THE CONTENT FACILITATOR ROLE

Students find Basta sessions through Seekr, choosing from a flexible mix of standalone sessions they join a la carte and more structured, multi-session programs. As a Content Facilitator, you are the person in the room (virtual or in-person) who makes that content come alive. Basta sessions are not school. We don't do lectures, and we don't do busywork. Every session should feel like the best professional development a participant has ever had: high energy, high stakes, and genuinely fun, while still pushing participants to practice real skills, take real feedback, and stretch past their comfort zone. You'll be the reason a session that could feel like homework instead feels electric.

    You will do this by:

    • Leading virtual and in-person sessions that translate career-readiness content into practice, feedback, and real skill-building, not passive listening
    • Reading a room in real time, adjusting pace and format to keep energy high and participants leaning in
    • Making dense or technical material feel clear, concrete, and usable
    • Bringing your own voice and judgment to existing content so it lands as authentic facilitation, not a script being read aloud
    • Running your own sessions before you run them for real, so every transition, activity, and tough moment is second nature by the time participants show up
    • Digging into feedback every week and turning it into concrete changes for how you show up next time, not just noting what didn't land
    • Pushing on the session experience directly with the Head of Learning and Facilitation, because you're closest to what's actually happening in the room
    • Showing up to monthly and quarterly content reviews ready to flag what may not work with students, suggest activities or examples that will, and challenge what may not play out well.
    • Participating in pre-session check ins for special programming to ensure you have the context that room needs

Note: in-person opportunities are available for facilitators based in NYC, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham NC, or Philadelphia PA, in addition to standard virtual sessions.

The Content Facilitator is likely to see themselves in the following: you get energized by a live room, you believe rigor and fun aren't in tension, and you're as comfortable running a workshop for 90 people as you are a focused session for 10.

SUCCESS IN THE CONTENT FACILITATOR ROLE LOOKS LIKE:

Within your first few sessions, participants and staff notice your energy and clarity, and you're comfortable adapting on the fly when a session runs long or a group needs a different approach. By your first few months, you've fully made the content your own: staff trust you to hold fidelity to the core material while still facilitating in a way that feels personal, sharp, and engaging. Students leave your sessions talking about the experience, not just checking a box.

YOU COULD BE OUR NEXT FACILITATOR IF:

    • You have 3+ years of professional experience facilitating engaging virtual learning experiences
    • You have 2+ years of volunteer or professional experience working with college-aged young adults, or in early career recruiting or corporate learning & development
    • Lived experience of the first-generation students we serve (preferred)
    • You believe deeply in the potential first-generation students bring to the workplace and get real energy from helping them close the gap between where they are and where they want to be
    • You're adept working in a virtual environment with tools like Google Docs, Zoom, and Slack
    • You build relationships naturally: you listen well, read people accurately, and solve problems with participants, not for them
    • You take full ownership of your sessions but aren't afraid to ask for help when you need it
    • You're available afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays (EST)

    THE TANGIBLE GOOD

This is a contract, fee-for-service role with flexible, part-time hours (3-9 hrs/week) that can flex up around in-person programming weekends. You'll get hands-on facilitation experience with a high-energy, mission-driven team and the chance to sharpen your craft across a wide range of session formats and audiences.
