    Working Hours: Standard hours with night and weekend hours expected for special events

    Working Location: Majority onsite in Boston-based office, with some remote flexibility and statewide travel

    Salary: $90,000 - $100,000/year

    Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is a mission-driven nonprofit committed to ensuring every young person in MA has access to quality mentoring relationships, regardless of who they are or where they live. As the organization advances its impact and growth, we are seeking a strategic, relationship-centered, and highly motivated Director of Advancement to lead revenue generation, strengthen our brand, and work in close partnership with the President & CEO to propel the mission forward.

    MMP is a dynamic statewide nonprofit organization and as an affiliate of The National Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR), MMP is part of a national effort that helps grassroots organizations foster quality mentoring relationships by producing research for the field, shaping policy change through advocacy, and driving public awareness on the impact of mentoring for young people.

    For more than 30 years MMP has served as an intermediary organization, providing the critical link between national evidence-based research and programs across the State. MMP provides the tools, research, training and best practices adults require to truly show up for youth in a caring and consistent way in schools, community, and workplaces.

    Position Summary:

    The Director of Advancement serves as the organization’s chief strategist for fundraising, revenue growth, and brand positioning. Responsible for achieving an annual revenue goal of $2.5 million, this leader oversees all development, marketing, and advancement operations.

    Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Director of Advancement must build and maintain a trusted, collaborative partnership with the executive leadership team - ensuring alignment on priorities, strategy, and organizational advancement. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented professional who thrives in a challenging funding landscape and is energized by being “boots on the ground” in the community and with stakeholders.

    The Director will develop and execute strategies to sustain and grow MMP’s $2.5M revenue goal. The Director will have the direct support of a 2.5 person Advancement team they will supervise, including the Marketing Manager, the Advancement Operations Manager, and the Foundation Manager (part-time). The Director will be responsible for driving innovative solutions to increase philanthropic revenue, build upon MMP’s brand and increase visibility, manage donor and partner relationships, and support organization-wide messaging.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Revenue Generation (Primary Responsibility)

    • Build, execute, and optimize a comprehensive advancement strategy to achieve and exceed the $2.5M revenue goal.
    • Lead all fundraising activities including major gifts, individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation relations, grants, and events.
    • Manage and grow a personal portfolio of donors and strategic partners.
    • Identify emerging revenue opportunities and innovate proactively in response to market and philanthropic trends.
    • Partner closely with the President & CEO to prioritize opportunities and develop aligned fundraising strategies.

    Executive Partnership & Leadership

    • Serve as a trusted advisor and close strategic partner to the President & CEO.
    • Foster transparent, consistent communication to ensure alignment on goals, donor strategy, and organizational needs.
    • Provide data-informed insights, forecasts, and recommendations to support executive and board decision-making.
    • Represent the organization alongside—or on behalf of—the President & CEO in key donor and community engagements, including with MENTOR’s affiliate fundraising committee.
    • Represent the organization publicly as a key spokesperson and relationship-builder, engaging with stakeholders, partners, and community leaders to advance strategic priorities.

    Brand Building & Marketing

    • Oversee the organization’s brand strategy and storytelling across all platforms.
    • Lead and guide the Marketing Manager to drive visibility, engagement, and strong mission-centered messaging.
    • Enhance brand recognition through partnerships, events, campaigns, and public engagement.

    Team Leadership & Management

    • Supervise a team of 2.5 staff: Marketing Manager, Operations Manager, and Part-Time Foundations Manager.
    • Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and creativity within the Advancement team.
    • Ensure strong coordination and alignment between advancement, operations, and program teams.

    Data, Reporting, & Planning

    • Maintain a data-driven approach to donor management, pipeline tracking, and strategy development.
    • Oversee accurate CRM usage and generate advancement dashboards and reports for leadership and the board.
    • Use data to make timely adjustments and drive results across all revenue channels.

    Organizational Collaboration

    • Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization, engaging staff in donor stewardship and mission storytelling.
    • Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless donor experiences and cohesive organizational messaging.
    • Participate in organization-wide strategy, planning, and leadership initiatives.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 7 - 10+ years of progressive development or advancement experience with demonstrated success in revenue generation.
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Proven track record of cultivating and soliciting donors, partners, and funders.
    • Experience supervising and developing staff.
    • Adept at building strong internal and external relationships, including with executive leadership.
    • Highly strategic thinker with the ability to act tactically and innovatively.
    • Strong data-management skills with CRM proficiency, preferably Salesforce.
    • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and remains solutions-oriented when faced with challenges.

    Compensación

    Benefits:

    • Salary $90,000 - $100,000/year - paid biweekly (commensurate with experience)
