Job Summary: The Director of Growth and Revenue serves as the Center's lead strategist for network development, partnership cultivation, earned revenue growth, and expansion of program adoption nationwide. Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Operating Financial Officer, the Director is responsible for developing and executing strategies that increase awareness, adoption, and implementation of the Center's programs, professional learning services, and publications. Working closely with the Vice President & Chief Program Officer, the Director supports the national expansion and adoption of the Center's educational programs by identifying growth opportunities, engaging in business development, increasing engagement among educators, schools, districts, and state education leaders. This role leads efforts to expand relationships with our national network of state partners, school district leaders, state education agencies, and higher education institutions. The Director will identify and cultivate new opportunities for growth, oversee key strategic relationships, build new business opportunities, and build systems that support sustainable expansion of the Center's national network. This position supervises the Manager of Network Relations.
The ideal candidate is an experienced relationship builder, educational partnership leader, and growth strategist with strong market connections to school districts and direct experience working within the K-12 education landscape. This person will have a demonstrated track record of increasing program adoption, generating revenue, and deepening stakeholder engagement across schools, districts, and education partners.
Duties:
Strategic Partnership Development & Network Expansion (40%)
- Develop and execute a national strategy to expand the Center's network and increase adoption of civic education programs and instructional materials.
- Cultivate relationships with state education agencies, school districts, administrators, curriculum directors, teacher leaders, higher education institutions, and nonprofit partners.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for large-scale district, state, and organizational partnerships.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of partnership opportunities and track progress toward organizational growth goals.
- Represent the Center at conferences, convenings, state competitions, and external meetings.
- Serve as a senior ambassador for the Center and effectively communicate the value and impact of the Center's programs and resources.
Revenue Growth & Market Development (30%)
- Lead the development and expansion of fee-for-service professional learning partnerships with school districts, state education agencies, and educational organizations.
- Create and execute strategies that bundle curriculum materials, professional learning, and implementation support to increase program adoption and long-term partner engagement.
- Develop proposals, scopes of work, and partnership agreements for professional learning services and consulting engagements.
- Work closely with program staff and publishing distribution partners to translate instructional expertise into scalable professional learning offerings that meet district and state needs.
- Analyze sales trends, market opportunities, customer data, and network engagement metrics to inform strategy.
- Develop annual growth targets and key performance indicators for network expansion and earned revenue.
- Partner with the Center's publication distributor and internal stakeholders to strengthen sales channels and improve customer engagement.
- Identify opportunities to increase textbook adoption and deepen implementation within schools and districts.
Leadership & Team Management (20%)
- Provide direct oversight and mentorship for the Manager of Network Relations by setting clear objectives and accountability measures that support the Center’s expansion strategy.
- Collaborate with internal educational and professional development teams to evaluate evolving school system requirements, industry shifts, and potential avenues for strategic growth.
- Synthesize the advancement of strategic partnerships, instructional material sales, and professional development services with market trends to catalyze revenue expansion and elevate the Center's national footprint.
- Ensure seamless coordination across partnership development, curriculum sales, and program delivery to maximize partner satisfaction, retention, and long-term engagement.
Organizational Leadership & Collaboration (10%)
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership on growth, publishing partner Gibb Smith, and network engagement.
- Partner with Program staff to ensure successful implementation and support for network partners.
- Contribute to strategic planning, annual goal setting, and organizational growth initiatives.
- Maintain accurate reporting and forecasting related to partnership development, sales activities, and network engagement.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, educational partnerships, network development, sales, program expansion, or related leadership roles.
- Minimum 3 years of staff supervision and management experience.
- Demonstrated success building business partnerships and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of K-12 education systems, curriculum adoption processes, and educational decision-making structures.
- Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at multiple levels, including educators, administrators, district leaders, funders, and policymakers.
- Experience utilizing CRM systems such as Salesforce to manage relationships, pipelines, and reporting.
- Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience in civic education, social studies education, constitutional education, or related fields.
- Experience working with state education agencies and large school districts.
- Experience leading publication, curriculum, educational services, or professional learning sales efforts.
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and federally funded education programs.
- Knowledge of the Center's programs and national network.
Compensación
Salary:
The starting salary range for this position starts at $95,000 -$100,000 and commensurate with education and experience. Pay periods are semi-monthly. The Center offers a very competitive benefits package, including a generous retirement plan, optional additional retirement plan, medical and dental insurance, vacation time, sick leave, paid holidays, and additional optional benefits.
