    About College Visions: Founded in 2004, College Visions is one of the oldest and most comprehensive college success organizations in Rhode Island. Every year, CV empowers 550 first-generation students to pursue their dream of earning a college degree. CV Scholars receive individualized support beginning with the college exploration and application process through college graduation.     Summary: The College Access Program (CAP) Advisor supports Woonsocket High School students through college and career exploration, postsecondary planning, and the college application process. Working primarily on-site at Woonsocket High School, the advisor provides individualized coaching, facilitates workshops, coordinates college and career exploration opportunities, and helps cultivate a strong college-going culture. The advisor supports students in grades 9–11 as they build college knowledge and prepare for postsecondary success and guides seniors through the college application, financial aid, and enrollment process. The advisor will also support College Visions' Woonsocket Summer Prep Program and other college access initiatives. As a member of the CAP team, the advisor receives ongoing training, supervision, and support from College Visions.

    Management: The College Access Program Advisor reports to CV’s Director of Programs.

    Hours: This is a full-time position. Typical hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with opportunities for some remote work, depending on student and program needs. Occasional evening or weekend hours are required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Student Advising

    • Recruit and support a caseload of WHS students in grades 9-12 through individual college and career advising, coaching, and mentorship
    • Guide high school seniors through all aspects of the college application process, including college list building, essay development, resume prep, application completion, financial aid, scholarship opportunities, and college decision-making
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date advising records and program trackers (contact information, demographics, and program outcomes)

    Events, Program Development, Family Engagement, and CV Summer Prep Woonsocket

    • Plan and lead monthly workshops focused on college access, career readiness, and student-centered topics that increase college knowledge, career readiness, and community among students
    • Cultivate strong relationships with Woonsocket High School staff, colleges, and other stakeholders
    • Communicate regularly with students and families to provide guidance and support.
    • Stay informed on college access topics, training, scholarships, and programs.
    • Support the research and development of college partnerships to facilitate broader options for students
    • Serve as an instructor and/or provide program support for the Woonsocket Summer Prep Program, a five-week college and career exploration program held annually from July to August.

    Professional Growth

    • Participate in ongoing college access training and seek out external professional development opportunities.
    • Engage in ongoing learning to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in college access and student success.
    • Demonstrate a growth mindset through reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

    Programming, Fundraising, Administration + Other Activities

    • Document events and activities on an ongoing basis
    • Contribute to the development of new strategic initiatives across the organization
    • Support the organization's fundraising activities as needed
    • Promote CV in Rhode Island and the college access sector
    • Handle administrative tasks, including student data entry, maintenance of records, adherence to financial and HR policies, and upkeep of office space

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required; degree in education, youth development, or a related field preferred
    • Experience working with high school students, particularly from historically underrepresented, low-income, or first-generation backgrounds
    • Deep, well-articulated commitment to CV’s mission
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
    • Fluency in Spanish or a second language is a major plus
    • Strong facilitation, relationship-building, and project management skills
    • Self-motivated, able to work collaboratively, energetic, positive, and flexible

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The salary for this position is $50,000. CV offers generous paid time off, opportunities for some remote work, comprehensive benefits (medical/dental/vision), and a retirement match.
