Partnership to End Addiction is seeking a full-time Educational Content Editor to create and strengthen practical, evidence-informed resources for families of adolescents and young adults. This role turns complex information about substance use, addiction, mental health, prevention, treatment, and recovery into clear, compassionate content people can use. The Educational Content Editor reports to the Vice President, Consumer Clinical Content, has no direct reports, and works closely with colleagues across Family Services, Communications, Impact, Digital, and Development.

Responsibilities of the job include:

• Demonstrate and reflect the mission and values of the organization.
• Proactively coordinate and collaborate with colleagues to fulfill the mission and objectives of the job.
• Research, write, edit, and update educational content for families, including articles, video scripts, mini-lessons, text messages, and other digital resources.
• Translate clinical, scientific, and research information into plain language that is accurate, engaging, practical, and easy to understand.
• Fact-check content, use credible sources, maintain citations, and coordinate subject-matter review when needed.
• Edit content from across the organization for voice, clarity, accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with editorial standards.
• Review educational videos, marketing materials, social media content, and development content for accuracy, tone, and audience fit.
• Support the Senior Director, External Communications and other colleagues in content roadmap planning and prioritization.
• Coordinate editorial review and publication of website articles in WordPress, including basic formatting, links, metadata, and search-friendly titles and descriptions.
• Maintain and routinely review existing content so that information, links, language, and calls to action remain current and useful.
• Develop and review messages for Help & Hope and other family-facing programs and services.
• Support the cultural adaptation and Spanish-language translation of Family Services content in collaboration with qualified translators and reviewers.
• Use approved AI tools responsibly, when appropriate, and verify all AI-assisted work for accuracy, bias, originality, privacy, and organizational voice.
• Manage multiple assignments, review cycles, and deadlines while communicating progress and potential delays.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant professional experience in writing, editing, health communications, education, digital publishing, or a related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing for general and professional audiences, with the ability to make complex information clear and useful.
• Experience finding, analyzing, and accurately interpreting research and data.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound editorial judgment, respond constructively to feedback, and collaborate across teams.
• Commitment to creating inclusive, culturally responsive content for people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
• Compassion and empathy for people and families affected by substance use and mental health.

Preferred qualifications:

• Education or professional experience in health, social sciences, behavioral health, public health, journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Experience writing about health, mental health, substance use, addiction, or other sensitive topics.
• Clinical, direct-service, or community-based experience with adolescents, young adults, or families affected by substance use, mental health concerns, or co-occurring disorders.
• Experience with WordPress or another content management system, plain-language writing, digital accessibility, and basic search engine optimization.
• Experience using AI language models to support content development, combined with strong editorial review and fact-checking.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
• Lived or professional experience relevant to the communities served.

This is a hybrid role. The Educational Content Editor will work in the New York City office as needed and at the request of their supervisor, the CEO & President, and/or the Executive Vice President. Applicants must live in NY, NJ, PA, or CT and within 150 miles of our New York City office.
