Animal Care and Companion Associate

Beagle Freedom Project is a non-profit organization dedicating to ending animal testing. Our facility in Nowata, Oklahoma is where many of our animals liberated from animal testing live full-time and part time. They require tenderness, love and care to overcome the trauma of their past and begin their new lives. BFP is seeking loving caretakers with compassionate hearts who also possess the experience necessary to care for these fragile animals.

As an Animal Care and Companion Associate, you will be responsible for befriending various types of animals: dogs, cats, horses, pigs, rabbits, goats, and alpacas, and more; caring for them and helping their journey of rehabilitation from abuse and neglect to love and freedom.

Responsibilities:

Create a harmonious connection with the animals.

Teaching former animal testing and cruelty survivors how to live life as free animals: walking on leash, playing with toys, playing with other animals and people, enjoying treats and most of all, trusting people and other animals.

Grooming & Bathing.

Feeding.

Cleaning the animals’ areas: picking up animal waste such as urine, feces, vomit.

Playing and spending quality time with the animals.

Walking the animals.

Taking the animals to veterinary appointments.

Pairing animals together or in groups and taking notes on animals’ behavior.

Requirements:

• Must be 18+ years of age
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds
• Reliable transportation and current driver’s license
• Strong understanding of animal behavior
• Excellent attention to animal needs
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or alone
• Strong communication skills to effectively report animal needs and unusual behavior
