Program Coordinator (Arts & Crafts, Wellness & Community Activities)

Palmdale & Lancaster, CA | Approximately 5–6 Hours per Week

Housing Corporation of America (HCA) is seeking a friendly, creative, and dependable Independent Contractor Program Coordinator to lead engaging on-site activities for residents at 3 affordable housing communities in the Antelope Valley.

This flexible, part-time contractor opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has a creative spirit, and believes that art, connection, and lifelong learning can strengthen communities.

About the Role

As a Program Coordinator, you'll plan and lead weekly activities such as:

• Arts & crafts for adults, seniors, and families
• Simple health and wellness activities (chair exercise, stretching, mindfulness, etc.)
• Social games such as bingo, trivia, card games, and other community-building activities
• Occasional educational workshops or resource-sharing sessions

You'll also promote your activities, track attendance, and complete simple documentation after each class.

This position averages 5-6 hours per week, with most hours spent leading activities and the remaining time dedicated to planning, preparation, promotion, and administrative tasks.

As an independent contractor, you'll enjoy flexibility while maintaining a consistent schedule for residents and meeting monthly program deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate engaging weekly programs
• Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for residents of all ages
• Design and promote activities using HCA's Canva templates and marketing resources
• Track attendance and submit brief online documentation after each class
• Coordinate the purchase basic program supplies within an approved budget
• Assist residents with basic resource referrals when appropriate
• Foster a sense of community through positive relationships and consistent programming
• Attend a monthly check-in meeting with HCA's Art Director to review programming, discuss ideas, and plan upcoming activities
• Prepare and submit the following month's class schedule, activity plans, and promotional flyers by an established monthly deadline to ensure timely resident outreach

• Able to travel between communities in Lancaster and Palmdale using reliable transportation

Teaching experience is welcome but not required. We'll provide training, activity ideas, and ongoing support to help you succeed.

• Gentle fitness, yoga, stretching, or wellness instruction

• Canva or basic graphic design
• Bilingual (especially Spanish)

Schedule

On-site programs are held on a consistent weekday schedule between 10am and 5pm. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday preferred. Mandatory availability from 3:15 - 5pm twice a week for kids-centric programming at two sites.

Preparation, planning, and administrative work may be completed remotely, provided monthly deliverables and deadlines are met.

Compensation & Contractor Information

• $25.00 per hour
