The Opportunity

As the Coordinator, Community Services, you will play a key role in connecting families of children and young adults with disabilities to the resources, supports, and opportunities they need to thrive. This multifaceted position combines individualized assistance to families and professionals, community outreach and partnerships, volunteer recruitment and engagement. You will serve as a trusted resource for families, facilitate meaningful community partnerships, recruit and support parent and caregiver volunteers, and promote equitable access to FCSN programs and services. Your work will be grounded in culturally sustaining practices and a commitment to strengthening family leadership, advocacy, and community engagement. This is a hands-on, community-centered position that combines outreach, high-quality individual assistance, and relationship-building.

Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with families, schools, healthcare providers, advocacy organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders.
• Represent FCSN at community events, conferences, family meetings, advisory committees and partner gatherings.
• Promote equitable access to services through culturally and linguistically appropriate outreach materials and communications.
• Implement outreach efforts and program activities to increase awareness of FCSN programs and engage families from historically underserved and underrepresented communities.
• Facilitate and promote workshops and information sessions for families, caregivers, family and youth leaders, professionals, and community partners on topics related to advocacy, leadership, special education, healthcare navigation, mental health, housing for adults with disabilities and family engagement.

Family Support & Individual Assistance

• Respond to phone, email, virtual, and in-person inquiries from families, youth, and professionals seeking information about special education, disability services, health resources, and community supports.
• Deliver universal, targeted, and intensive levels of assistance and follow-up support within established timelines tailored to each family’s unique circumstances and needs.
• Support families in understanding educational rights, available services, and opportunities for advocacy and engagement.
• Ensure all interactions reflect culturally sustaining and family-friendly practices.

Volunteer Recruitment & Leadership Development

• Recruit, onboard, and support volunteers.
• Coordinate peer-support and family/youth leadership opportunities, including volunteer mentorship programs.
• Foster partnerships with hospitals, community organizations, disability networks, and advocacy groups to strengthen volunteer pipelines and expand volunteer engagement.
• Create opportunities for volunteers to participate in advocacy, training, and community events.
• Monitor volunteer participation and provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and support.

Program Implementation & Support

• Implement grant and program deliverables through training, outreach, family support, and resource distribution activities.
• Support the planning and execution of events, conferences, and organizational initiatives, including the Visions of Community (VOC) Conference.
• Develop, review, and disseminate educational and outreach resources that advance disability and language accessibility while supporting culturally sustaining and family-friendly practices.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure coordinated services and achievement of organizational goals.
• Promote and model culturally sustaining and inclusive practices in all aspects of service delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of FCSN's mission and operational priorities.

Data Management & Reporting

• Collect, enter, track and ensure confidentiality of program data in FCSN-approved databases within established timelines to support grant reporting, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
• Contribute insights and recommendations to improve service delivery, engagement strategies, and strengthen program effectiveness and organizational impact.

We are most interested in candidates who meet the majority of the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, public health, organizational development, or a related field, or equivalent lived and professional experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in family engagement, training coordination, community outreach, direct services, education, healthcare, or nonprofit programs.
• Experience working directly with families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
• Experience facilitating trainings, workshops, or educational programs.
• Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with data entry, program tracking systems, and grant-funded reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related technology tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Commitment to equity, accessibility, and culturally responsive service delivery.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support trainings and community events.

Bilingual candidates strongly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. The salary range for this position is $48,500–$58,500, prorated based on hours worked per week and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Employees are eligible for FCSN’s comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits based on employment status.

This position is supported by grant funding. Employment in this role is contingent upon the continued availability of grant funds. Continuation of this position beyond the current grant period is subject to renewal of funding and organizational need.

Pay: $48,500.00 - $58,500.00 per year
