    Descripción

    AASLD, the leading organization of professionals dedicated to preventing and curing liver disease, is seeking a Senior Manager, Member Communities & Committee Engagement to deepen and expand meaningful volunteer involvement across the association. This role is central to cultivating strong connections among members, volunteer leaders, patients, and staff while advancing initiatives that enrich the overall member experience.

    The Senior Manager will serve as a key partner in building high-performing volunteer communities, supporting committee operations, and implementing engagement strategies that align with AASLD’s mission and strategic priorities. This position will work closely with volunteer leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure committees, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and member communities have the resources, guidance, and support needed to succeed.

    This is a remote position with occasional travel required. While exceptional candidates will be considered from most of the contiguous United States, preference will be given to applicants located in CT, DC, FL, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, OH, VA, and WI.

The successful candidate will help strengthen member communities, enhance committee leadership, advance patient engagement, and contribute to initiatives that create meaningful impact across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Member Communities

    • Serves as staff lead to key member communities focused on diversity and inclusion, which include the Inclusion & Diversity Committee, Women’s Initiative Committee, LGBTQ+ Subcommittee and the Patient Advisory Group (PAG).
    • Manage activities for these key communities at TLM and DDW to ensure they are appropriately represented at these meetings, which includes coordinating with Education and Meetings Teams on sessions and/or networking events.
    • Drive the implementation of new communities as assigned aligned with strategic priorities.

    Committee Engagement

    • Serves as Staff Liaison to the above diversity and inclusion committees. Responsibilities include scheduling and facilitating meetings, developing board reports, and ensuring timely follow-up on action items or deliverables.
    • Manages AASLD’s committee framework to ensure overall effectiveness and transparency of overall structure. Work includes creating relevant resources to evaluate committee performance and enhance leadership development of Chair roles, convening meet-ups for Staff Liaisons (virtually and in-person at AASLD Days), creating processes to streamline communications with committee leaders, organizing virtual Town Halls and other engagement activities for Committee/SIG leaders.

    Patient Engagement

    • Supports management of Patient Advisory Group (PAG) activities with the Director.
    • Engages externally with Director with patient organizations to facilitate connections, build trust and long-term relationships with patient groups and patient advocates.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, relevant area, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in volunteer or program management or a similar role and relevant subject matter expertise. Familiarity with diversity and inclusion as well as patient engagement issues is desirable.
    • Requires knowledge of key programmatic, operational, and financial issues and priorities.
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite or related software. Experience with membership databases, project management tools like Monday.com and awards platforms like OpenWater is a plus.
    • Experience working with healthcare associations or other types of nonprofit organizations.

    Skills Needed in Position

    • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail; able to prioritize and coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse environment.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers and staff, acting as a trusted liaison.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while also collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced, collaborative, and remote environment.

    Paid Time Off (PTO)

    PTO accrues at the following rates for years one through three is 30 days annually

    HOLIDAY LEAVE

    AASLD observes the holidays designated by the Federal Government. In addition, the AASLD office will close the day following Christmas and will not reopen until the first business day following New Year’s Day.

    DENTAL & VISION INSURANCE

    AASLD’s dental and vision plans are administered by MetLife. The dental plan is a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO).AASLD pays 100% of the employee-only premiums. Vision coverage is a complimentary benefit.

    HEALTH INSURANCE

    AASLD provides health insurance for all regular full-time employees. The Association offers health coverage through CareFirst (CF).Three plans are offered to employees.They include BlueChoice Advantage Platinum, BlueChoice Advantage Gold, and BlueChoice Plus Gold level plans. The plans include a national network of providers. AASLD pays up to $939 of the premium for employee only and up to $1,000 for employees and dependents. Premiums exceeding $939 and/or $1,000 are deducted pre-tax from employee paycheck through AASLD’s Section 125 Cafeteria.

    SECTION 125 CAFETERIA PLAN

    The Association sponsors a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan administered through the PayChex payroll service.

    LIFE & ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D) INSURANCE

    AASLD pays 100% of eligible employee’s premium. The life and AD&D insurance plans are administered by MetLife.

    LONG-TERM & SHORT-TERM DISABILITY

    AASLD pays 100% of eligible employee’s premium. The life and AD&D insurance plans are administered by MetLife.

    RETIREMENT/PENSION PLAN

    All AASLD employees may contribute to their AASLD 403(b) retirement plan upon enrollment. Employee contributions are through salary reduction (salary is taxed after the contribution is deducted). For full-time employees, AASLD contributes 10% of employee’s current salary to the retirement plan effective the month following the one-year anniversary date.

    EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

    VOLUNTARY BENEFITS

    AASLD offers employees voluntary life, critical illness, and accident insurance. These benefits are available on the day of hire. These benefits are also administered by MetLife.

    BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

    AASLD grants each employee five-days of leave for bereavement purposes due to the death of someone in the immediate family.

    REMOTE WORK

    AASLD staff members are work remotely.

    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

    AASLD will pay the annual fees for professional societies that provide educational programs specific to

    the duties of the Chief Executive Officer and approved staff. In addition, AASLD will cover fees for

    educational seminars and/or classes that will improve the developmental skills, knowledge, and ability

    of staff.

    TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

    AASLD encourages staff to continue their education and further enhance their knowledge through formal educational resources.

    RECRUITMENT BONUS

    Should an employee be hired from a staff referral, the referring staff member will receive a $300 bonus following the completion of the referral’s first six (6) months of employment.
