    Descripción

    The Iowa Paralyzed Veterans of America (IPVA) is a non-profit organization and is one of 33 chapters which represent our national organization, Paralyzed Veterans of America. Our membership is free and consists of veterans of the United States Armed Forces who have suffered a spinal cord injury or received a diagnosis of disease affecting the spinal cord. IPVA relies solely on private donations and receives no governmental funding.

    Job Details:

    Full-time (Office hours are 8:00 – 4:30, Monday-Friday plus special events)

    This is not a work-from-home position.

    Job Description:

    The Executive Director reports to the President of the Board of Directors of the Iowa Paralyzed Veterans of America and holds responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the non-profit. The Executive Director will provide guidance and direction to the President and Board of Directors in shaping the future of the organization through vision, values, leadership, and strategy.

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a management or leadership role.
    • Experience working with a Board of Directors strongly preferred.
    • Experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or related fields preferred.

    Knowledge & Professional Skills

    Working knowledge of nonprofit financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, fundraising, and grant administration.

    • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for nonprofit organizations.
    • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, problem-solving, and sound decision-making.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

    Communication & Relationship Management

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and professional presentation.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with Board members, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
    • Ability to collaborate with the Chapter President and Board of Directors to build consensus and advance Chapter goals.

    Technical & Administrative Skills

    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Excel, QuickBooks Online, Zoom, Canva, and similar tools.
    • Working knowledge of social media and digital marketing platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and related channels.
    • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism

    Work Requirements

    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
    • Flexibility to travel and attend Chapter and IPVA events, including evenings and weekends as required.
    • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States

    Key Responsibilities:

    Organizational Leadership & Governance

    • Partner with the Chapter President and Board of Directors to implement the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan in compliance with National PVA policies and procedures.
    • Maintain open, consistent communication with the Chapter President and Board of Directors, providing timely updates and sharing relevant information.
    • Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable Chapter and National PVA policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with National PVA by participating in required teleconferences, attending conventions, and supporting national initiatives.

    Financial Oversight & Reporting

    • Analyze financial data and operational impact to ensure accuracy and fiscal responsibility.
    • Prepare and present financial reports and all proposed expenditures to the Board of Directors for review and approval.
    • Support the Board in fulfilling fiduciary responsibilities through transparent and timely financial reporting.

    Fundraising & Resource Development

    • Manage and grow an effective local and regional fundraising program, securing new and repeat revenue from foundations, corporations, government sources, and individual donors.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including grant applications, major donor cultivation, annual campaigns, and special initiatives.
    • Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with prospective and existing donors, sponsors, and funding partners.
    • Plan, organize, execute, and attend fundraising events.
    • Monitor, analyze, and report on fundraising performance and progress toward financial goals.

    Communications & Community Engagement

    • Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to increase community awareness, education, and support for Chapter programs.
    • Create compelling fundraising appeals, promotional materials, and digital content to engage donors and stakeholders.
    • Build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to strengthen the Chapter’s visibility and impact.

    Operations & Business Management

    • Oversee day-to-day business operations of the Chapter.
    • Supervise, manage, and evaluate staff to ensure responsibilities are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Develop sound business plans, committee initiatives, and organizational budgets in partnership with the Chapter President and Board of Directors.
    • Maintain accurate donor and organizational records, manage fundraising databases, and track budgets. Manage and grow a robust Chapter membership and volunteer program.

    Board Relationship & Accountability

    • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors.
    • Support Board committees and strategic initiatives as assigned.
    • Provide regular reports and recommendations to inform Board decision-making.
    • Preference will be given to applicants with military service

    Compensación

    • Health insurance negotiable
