    ISLA seeks third year law students, recent law school graduates, or judicial clerks to sponsor for an Equal Justice Works (EJW) post-graduate fellowship beginning in September 2026 and concluding in September 2028.

    The fellowship candidate will work closely with ISLA staff to design a project related to habeas petitions for immigrants detained in Louisiana.

    The fellowship, if awarded, will begin in the fall of 2026 and is anticipated to last two years. The fellow will work closely with experienced attorneys.

    Qualifications:

    • Rising third-year law student, judicial law clerk, and/or recent law school graduate
    • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights work
    • Willing and able to commit time to write – and meet interim and final deadlines for– the Equal Justice Works Fellowship application, with guidance and supervision from ISLA staff
    • Ability to pass the Louisiana Bar Exam within one year of employment
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the ISLA team
    • Based in or willing to move to New Orleans, Louisiana
    • Spoken and written fluency in Spanish preferred
