    About Kiran Anjali Project (KAP)

Kiran Anjali Project (KAP) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities and life pathways for underserved girls in India through deep partnerships with grassroots programs. KAP operates as a boutique organization with a strong commitment to cultural understanding, fiscal responsibility, and high-impact, community-centered work.

    Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) serves as KAP’s chief executive and primary ambassador, reporting to the Board of Directors. This is a part-time leadership role responsible for translating KAP’s mission into measurable impact by strengthening fundraising, financial sustainability, operations, partnerships, and board effectiveness. As KAP’s Executive Director, this individual will help define and grow the role while balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

    Core Responsibilities

    1. Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
    • Partner closely with the Board to develop, implement, and regularly assess a multi-year strategic plan aligned with KAP’s mission and growth goals.
    • Translate strategic priorities into clear annual goals, benchmarks, and dashboards, with a strong emphasis on impact measurement and financial performance.
    • Strengthen organizational sustainability while maintaining KAP’s boutique, mission-first culture.
    • Serve as a thought leader and advocate for girls’ education and equity, particularly in underserved communities in India.
    1. Fundraising, Revenue Growth & Financial Stewardship
    • Lead and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on diversifying revenue streams, including individual donors, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, events, and peer-to-peer fundraising.
    • Improve KAP’s dollar-to-program ratio, with a clear expectation of moving toward 75–80% over time.
    • Cultivate, steward, and grow relationships with donors across the Pacific Northwest and beyond (including CA, OR, and other regions).
    • Oversee budgeting, cash flow, financial reporting, and compliance in collaboration with the Treasurer and finance supports.
    • Demonstrate transparent financial leadership and regularly report progress, risks, and projections to the Board.
    1. Partnerships, Programs & International Engagement
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board and partner programs in India, ensuring strong communication, alignment, and mutual accountability.
    • Deepen relationships with existing grassroots partners while identifying and evaluating potential new partnerships.
    • Ensure programs are evaluated regularly for effectiveness, outcomes, and alignment with KAP’s mission and values.
    • Promote culturally grounded, ethical, and community-centered approaches to international partnership.
    1. Board, Staff & Volunteer Leadership
    • Support, energize, and build the capacity of the Board of Directors; assist with board recruitment, onboarding, and engagement.
    • Reduce board burnout by clarifying roles, systems, and decision-making processes.
    • Foster a collaborative, transparent, inclusive organizational culture rooted in trust and shared accountability.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations and administrative tasks as appropriate for a lean organization.
    1. Communications, Brand & External Relations
    • Act as KAP’s primary spokesperson and public representative.
    • Strengthen KAP’s brand visibility through storytelling, social media, digital presence, and community engagement.
    • Communicate program impact and financial performance clearly and compellingly to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities for advocacy, partnerships, and increased visibility aligned with KAP’s mission.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Required Qualifications

    • Deep commitment to KAP’s mission and to advancing girls’ education and equity.
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, social impact, education, or mission-driven organization.
    • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor cultivation, including major gifts and diversified revenue strategies.
    • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, financial oversight, and performance metrics.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a small, lean organization.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with Boards of Directors and supporting governance best practices.
    • Background in education, international development, nonprofit leadership, or related fields.
    • Grant writing and grants management experience.
    • Experience working with or alongside international or cross-cultural partners, particularly in India or South Asia.
    • Strong marketing, storytelling, and public relations skills.

    • Visionary, mission-driven, and values-aligned.
    • Culturally grounded, empathetic, and equity-oriented.
    • Data-informed and financially savvy.
    • Collaborative, transparent, and relationship-centered.

    Compensation & Schedule

    • Part-time position
    • Salary range: $45,000 – $50,000 annually, based on joint agreement regarding commitment for hours.
    • Benefits include health insurance stipend, paid time off, paid holidays, and a flexible work schedule
