    The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is seeking a Peer Review Support Assistant (PRSA) to assist volunteer editors with handling manuscripts submitted to peer review, with the goal of prompt editorial decisions.     The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is seeking a Peer Review Support Assistant (PRSA) to assist volunteer editors with handling manuscripts submitted to peer review, with the goal of prompt editorial decisions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented position with administrative support and customer service components. This position reports directly to the Peer Review Support Manager.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Use of email and the manuscript management system to maintain clear communication with volunteer editors, volunteer reviewers, and authors throughout peer review, to foster an open and transparent environment
      • Assisting Editors to ensure that reviews and revisions are submitted in a timely manner
      • Evaluating reviewer comments and metadata to uphold user anonymity
    • Maintaining records of the peer review process
      • Supporting volunteer editors who have a variety of working styles while keeping track of correspondence and timelines
      • Ensuring appropriate handling of confidential documents
    • Other duties as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the peer review support team, the Publications Department, and the Society as a whole

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
    • Outstanding customer service skills
    • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
    • Experience handling multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks
    • Experience in a professional office environment is strongly preferred
    • Proficiency with basic business applications (Google Suite, Adobe)
    • Experience with Editorial Manager® or other peer-review tracking systems a plus

    Compensación

    We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, paid vacation, sick time, and holidays. AMS offers a superior retirement plan match and group life and disability insurance after one year of employment. AMS is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) qualified employer. This position is hybrid, with team members working in the office each Thursday. Team members have the option of working in the office additional days.
