    Descripción

This posting is for a temporary full-time position from now/when position is filled through June 30, 2027.

The Community Justice Project is hiring a Bilingual (English and Spanish-speaking) Victims’ Services Temporary Immigration Paralegal to work out of its Reading, PA office.

Overview of the Community Justice Project

The Community Justice Project (CJP) is a statewide, unrestricted legal aid program that is part of Pennsylvania’s Legal Aid Network. CJP conducts broad advocacy in all forms and subject areas, which includes civil rights, employment, housing, consumer, immigration, and public benefits work.

    Job Description

Part of CJP’s immigration practice focuses on representing survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and other crimes in pursuing U-Visas, T-Visas, Violence Against Woman Act (“VAWA”) and other petitions before USCIS. The temporary paralegal will assist with CJP’s immigration victims’ services caseload under attorney supervision, including by conducting intakes, organizing client files, gathering client documents, interfacing with clients, staffing legal clinics and outreaches, and performing other office and administrative tasks. This temporary, limited duration (through June 30, 2027) position is hybrid, with the ability to work remotely one or two days per week.

    Job Requirements

The Bilingual Victims’ Services Temporary Immigration Paralegal must have at least an associate degree and be fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Strong organizational and communications skills and a commitment to CJP’s low-income client community are also important.

Demonstrated commitment to immigration work is preferred. Prior paralegal experience is not necessary.

    Compensation and Benefits

The Bilingual Victims’ Services Temporary Immigration Paralegal will be a non-exempt employee. The entry-level compensation for employees at the Paralegal I level is $18.74/hour, though candidates will be assessed for the possibility of starting at the Paralegal II level. In addition, full time employees are eligible for CJP’s benefits package, including health insurance, dental and vision insurance, retirement contributions, and paid parental leave.

    How to Apply

This position will remain open until filled. To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to Marielle Macher by email to mmacher@cjplaw.org. The Community Justice Project is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
