    Individual Giving Manager

    Reports to: Director of Major Gifts

    Supervises: None at this time

    Status: Full-time, minimum of 32 hours per week, exempt

    Position Description

    The Individual Giving Manager is a mission-driven team member, responsible for helping retain, grow, acquire, and reactivate individual donors making one-time gifts of <$5,000, by creating regular and ongoing cultivation, retention, and stewardship communications, serving as a general inquiry point of contact for donor engagement questions, and providing project management for all tasks related to the annual fund.

    The Individual Giving Manager is integral to the growth of CAF’s donor base and revenue, serving as new annual fund and monthly donors' first point of engagement. They will be responsible for engaging donors in impactful and meaningful ways, identifying those that may have capacity to pass off to the major gift portfolio, and assist the Development Coordinator in ensuring all annual fund processes, including gift entry, acknowledgement letters, and annual tax letters are completed timely and accurately. Strong attention to detail and strategic process management is a must for this role.

    Compensation

    • Starting salary range:$78,374 – $96,758 (based on experience and qualifications)
    • All full-time employees are eligible for the full benefits package including:
    • 401K with up to 5% employer match.
    • Unlimited paid time off, including a mandatory four weeks off.
    • Paid parental leave.
    • 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums (medical, dental, vision) with 50% dependent coverage.
    • Observance of federal holidays.

    Work schedule

    • A full-time work week at CAF is defined as a minimum of 32 hours over four days. This may change in the future.
    • Illinois residence is required. Relocation fees are not provided by CAF.
    • Hybrid schedule: minimum two days in the office per week (West Loop, Chicago).

    Essential Job Functions

    Campaign Execution & Appeals (approximately 40%)

    • Develop, execute, and evaluate multi-channel annual fundraising campaigns, including email, peer-to-peer, direct mail, and events, ensuring alignment with CAF’s comprehensive communications calendar, brand standards, and messaging
    • Manage donor communication segmentation (ie. new annual fund donors, monthly giving, major donor prospects, etc.), testing, and performance analytics via EveryAction, to increase donor retention and giving level
    • Strategize, execute, and lead annual campaigns including but not limited to:
    • Fund-A-Thon, as well as culmination event, CAF’s largest peer-to-peer annual fundraiser (Q1)
    • Anniversary of Roe v. Wade (Q1)
    • Fiscal year-end & Dobbs decision anniversary (Q2)
    • Calendar end-of-year campaign (Q4)

    Portfolio & Data Management (approximately 20%)

    • Utilize

    Monday.com for project and portfolio management

    • Segment and paying particular attention to annual fund gifts via vehicles that suggest a higher capacity (ie. IRA gifts, gifts of stock, and DAFs), working closely with the Director of Major Gifts to upgrade annual fund donors into the major gift portfolio
    • Adhere to data hygiene standards, ensuring timely input of all donor communications, actions, and notes into

    Monday.com and CRM

    • Work closely with the Development Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate gift entry, donor acknowledgements, and yearly tax letters

    Stewardship & Donor Experience (approximately 20%)

    • Serve as the primary contact for annual fund, monthly, and prospective donors, responding to donor inquiries and coordinating timely gift processing and acknowledgement letters with the Development Coordinator
    • Execute routine stewardship efforts, including hand written thank you cards and letters, greeting cards, donor impact reports, and daily acknowledgement calls and emails
    • Coordinate with DevComms leadership on creating Annual Impact Report

    Event Strategy & Execution (approximately 15%)

    • Plan and execute annual fund events (Fund-A-Thon culminating event, donor briefings, stewardship and cultivation), and assist with major donor events (annual benefit, major donor cultivation events), including logistics, third-party vendor contracts, outreach, and on-site event management
    • Tracks event performance, ROI, and donor engagement outcomes, including follow-up
    • Serve as main point of contact for third party and peer-to-peer events held to benefit CAF

    Other (approximately 5%)

    • Works pro-actively and in good faith to support and strengthen the overall stability and effectiveness of the organization
    • Co-create and maintain a culture that fosters deep collaboration, trust, and coordination across functional organizational areas
    • Maintains a collaborative, positive, professional and friendly approach to working with supervisor, other staff, grantees, and external stakeholders
    • Actively participate in required convenings, summits, retreats, and staff meetings, and participate in required staff communications
    • Update professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities approved by CAF, maintaining networks, and participating in professional organizations as relevant to the role
    • May be involved in other cross-department work including but not limited to supporting programs, operations, and communications as assigned by the supervisor
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Five years of previous work experience raising funds from individual donors, preferably in the social justice sector
    • Previous experience overseeing and executing on special events, ability to manage logistics and budgets
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences
    • Experience producing and interpreting individual giving reports
    • Previous experience with Salesforce and/or Raisers Edge, entering data, producing queries and reports
    • Proficiency in Google Suite, social media, project management software, Slack
    • Possesses strong writing skills
    • Works flexibly, effectively manages ambiguity in a dynamic work environment
    • Works independently, self-motivated, juggles, prioritizes on their own
    • Performs under pressure, excellent time management, detail-oriented
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities
    • Comfortable and experienced with handling confidential donor information
    • Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptive, responsive, and able to make strategic decisions
    • Commitment to reproductive justice and abortion access for all people
    • Knowledge of intersectionality and the impact that privilege and oppression can have on people’s ability to access abortion

    Work Environment

    • Standard office equipment use required (computers, scanners).
    • Frequent sitting and virtual communications (email, video conferencing).
    • Some off-site work may be required; accessibility will be prioritized.
    • Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
    • Must be able to conduct business in English; however, fluency in languages other than English is a plus. Spanish pay differential available for qualified candidates.
