Fair Count seeks a Seasonal Community Organizer based outside of metro Atlanta to engage community members, faith leaders, local organizations, and service providers in historically undercounted populations (HUP). This role supports on-the-ground civic engagement efforts, with a focus on the General Election and redistricting initiatives.
The Seasonal Community Organizer reports to the Director of Organizing and may also work under the guidance of a Lead Organizer. This position is strictly nonpartisan. As a 501(c)(3) organization, Fair Count does not participate in electioneering or support for any political candidate or party.
Position Overview
Seasonal Community Organizers are community-centered, relationship-driven professionals who are passionate about civic engagement. They are knowledgeable about their local regions and skilled at building trust with diverse stakeholders.
This role requires strong time management, adaptability, and a willingness to engage both in-person and virtually. Organizers are expected to meet outreach goals, contribute to team efforts, and continuously learn and apply effective engagement strategies. Success in this role requires initiative, accountability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, faith-based organizations, and local partners in assigned regions, with a focus on historically undercounted populations.
- Execute outreach strategies and meet assigned engagement goals, including volunteer recruitment, canvassing, phone banking, one-on-one conversations, and community events.
- Plan, support, and participate in outreach events and educational initiatives in collaboration with partners.
- Track and report outreach activities and metrics accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of contacts and engagement efforts, coordinating with the Data Team as needed.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers, with the goal of developing long-term community leadership through a ladder of engagement.
- Utilize digital and relational organizing tools to expand outreach efforts.
- Stay informed on civic engagement trends and represent Fair Count at meetings, events, and presentations.
- Participate in required team meetings, trainings, and regular check-ins with supervisors.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in community organizing, civic engagement, or related work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across diverse communities.
- Reliable and responsive in communication (email, phone, and messaging platforms).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database tools.
- Ability to manage time effectively while working remotely and in the field.
- Commitment to racial equity and alignment with Fair Count’s mission and values.
Work Location
Candidates must be based in Georgia outside of metro Atlanta, with preference given to those in Middle or South Georgia.
Schedule and Travel Requirements
- Full-time, 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
- Frequent travel within assigned regions; occasional multi-day travel may be required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Required blackout period for time off: October 13 through November 4.
- Organization closures: September 7 and October 12.
Remote Work Expectations
- Reliable internet access is required; a computer will be provided.
- Availability during Eastern Time business hours.
- Participation in virtual meetings via Zoom or Google Meet (camera use expected when possible).
- Timely communication, with a general expectation of responses within 24 hours.
- Maintain an up-to-date Google Calendar with meetings, events, and availability.
Compensation and Benefits
- $1,000 per week, paid biweekly.
- Healthcare coverage available, with Fair Count contributing 60% of the monthly premium.
- Seasonal position running through November 6, 2026.
