    TITLE: Development Officer

    REPORTS TO: Vice President of Development

    The ICAA:

    The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is a nonprofit membership organization with 15 chapters across the country committed to promoting and preserving the practice, understanding, and appreciation of classical design. To do so, the ICAA offers a broad range of educational programs. These include intensives for architecture and design students, introductory programs for middle school students, lectures and walking tours for the public, continuing education courses for professionals and enthusiasts, travel programs to visit classical masterpieces, the publishing of original and reprinted books, and an annual journal entitled the Classicist. Through the annual Arthur Ross Awards, as well as other national and regional award programs, the ICAA also honors contemporary leaders of classical design and the related fields.

    The Position:

    Reporting to the Vice President of Development and working closely with the entire Development team, the Development Officer serves as an integral frontline part of the fundraising team responsible for securing investments from individuals, foundations, and corporations. This exciting new role supports donor stewardship, board engagement, and institutional giving while serving as a polished representative of the organization. The position cultivates relationships with donors and committee members, represents the ICAA at industry events, and drafts winning proposals and correspondence. The right candidate will be driven, an excellent communicator, and self motivated.

    Position Responsibilities:

    The Development Officer will have the following job responsibilities:

    • Conduct and track outreach for annual sponsorship renewals including programmatic sponsorships, grants, corporate sponsorships, and support for the ICAA’s annual academic publication, the Classicist
    • Meet and steward donors alongside senior staff
    • Draft sponsorship proposals and reports, including working in conjunction with education and communication departments to obtain metrics and statistics in support of funding needs
    • Regularly represent the ICAA at networking events and community gatherings
    • Work alongside Special Events team to coordinate event sponsorship campaigns and solicitation mailings
    • Create meeting briefings and bios for prospects, donors, and other VIP’s. Assist with donor research and prospect tracking
    • Serve as a Board Liaison including coordinating Board communications, preparing agendas and materials for Board meetings, soliciting annual Board dues, and ad hoc assistance as needed
    • Event support including hosting VIP guests and ensuring benefit fulfillment in concert with the Special Events team
    • Assist in coordinating invitations, lists, RSVP’s and logistics for all President’s Council events for high-level donors
    • Assist with drafting and sending donor correspondence
    • Assisting with billing, invoicing, and pledge fulfillment to maintain timely payments
    • Completing miscellaneous writing projects such as grant reports, donor biographies, invoice reminders, and emails, as needed
    • Other projects as assigned

    Required skills and qualifications:

    • Must have Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of fundraising or related non profit experience
    • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized, with superb oral and written communications skills
    • A high level of energy, initiative, vision, and creativity is essential
    • Polished presentation skills and ability to interact professionally and with discretion amongst a variety of stakeholders including trustees, members, donors, and volunteers
    • Proficient in database management and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database is a plus.
    • Ability to think creatively and strategically
    • Must show exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple projects on tight deadlines
    • Interest in architecture, art, or design is a plus

    The ICAA is currently a hybrid work environment with staff in the office a minimum of three days a week and attending a variety of in-person events. In-office days and hours must be flexible given our robust calendar of events, including on evenings and weekends.
