What is PSR-LA’s Health Ambassador Program?

The Health Ambassador Program (HAP) is designed for members who want to make a deeper commitment to environmental health and social justice advocacy. Through the program, PSR-LA provides ongoing support, resources, and professional development opportunities that strengthen health professionals’ capacity to serve as effective advocates. Health Ambassadors engage in direct policy advocacy with legislators and decision-makers, participate in media and public education efforts, and support community-centered environmental health campaigns.

Historically, the HAP built a strong network of committed health professionals and community advocates prepared to take action in support of PSR-LA’s mission. The program has been inactive since 2022, but we are looking to revive it starting in 2026. The Organizer will initially support program planning, curriculum review, and training implementation, and, over time, assume increased responsibility with the intention of leading this program.

    • Support the facilitation of all the HAP training sessions.
    • Evaluate the HAP curriculum for long-term sustainability, and collaborate with senior staff to ensure training material and content are relevant and effective.
    • Collaborate with program leads, active health professional members, and program partners to identify engagement opportunities for Ambassadors.
    • Mobilize trained Ambassadors to support PSR-LA's environmental justice, climate change, and nuclear abolition campaigns and initiatives.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with trained Ambassadors to ensure their participation is sustainable and long-term.

    Membership Administration

    • Work in collaboration with the Communications Manager to develop engagement tools, including creating educational toolkits, social media-linked actions, and website sign-ons.
