What is PSR-LA’s Health Ambassador Program?
The Health Ambassador Program (HAP) is designed for members who want to make a deeper commitment to environmental health and social justice advocacy. Through the program, PSR-LA provides ongoing support, resources, and professional development opportunities that strengthen health professionals’ capacity to serve as effective advocates. Health Ambassadors engage in direct policy advocacy with legislators and decision-makers, participate in media and public education efforts, and support community-centered environmental health campaigns.
Historically, the HAP built a strong network of committed health professionals and community advocates prepared to take action in support of PSR-LA’s mission. The program has been inactive since 2022, but we are looking to revive it starting in 2026. The Organizer will initially support program planning, curriculum review, and training implementation, and, over time, assume increased responsibility with the intention of leading this program.

About Physicians for Social Responsibility - Los Angeles (PSR-LA)
PSR-LA is a physician membership organization focused on protecting public health and fostering a regenerative economy.
Our work is grounded in the lived experience of low-income communities and communities of color most impacted by legacy contamination and ongoing pollution, and the expertise of health professionals. We build power for collective action to protect human health and confront humanity's greatest threats: climate change, environmental injustice, and nuclear weapons.
Over the last 40 years, PSR-LA has advanced transformative, community-driven solutions and promoted policies centered on community health.
The majority of PSR-LA staff members are people of color, and for the last 20 years, our growth has been led by women of color. PSR-LA’s work is deeply aligned with the environmental justice movement and is emerging as a strong public health voice for a just transition.
