Aviation Volunteer Services Coordinator

Angel Flight West (AFW) is a non-profit organization that arranges free air transportation to non-emergent medical treatment. Transportation is provided by volunteer pilots.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Services Coordinator to join our close-knit team. The Volunteer Service Coordinator serves as a liaison for volunteers by helping to transition new volunteers into their first mission or volunteer position or to engage returning volunteers.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• On-boarding/training (on our proprietary flight software), management and retention of volunteers
• Successfully engaging and managing volunteers on flying/driving/other opportunities
• Compassionately communicating with volunteers, patients and other stakeholders
• Professionally and promptly responding to emails, Zendesk tickets and phone calls from volunteers
• Supporting Mission Operations Team as needed

Qualifications:

• Experience in General Aviation is required (experience in working in the private pilot/small aircraft fields)
• Experience in volunteer recruitment, management, onboarding/training and engagement
• Passionate about working in the non-profit world
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to handle high call and email volume in a professional and prompt manner
• Demonstrate ability in prioritizing and handling multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines
• Maintain highest level of accuracy in data entry and management
• Possess excellent computer literacy
• Use good judgement, have integrity and a sense of humor
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and fluid workplace
• High school diploma required; BA/BS degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in aviation, social work, non-profit, communications, public health, transportation or similar field
