    Job brief

The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) provides educational courses and professional development to current and prospective nonprofit employees and is the home of the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential. NLA is seeking the services of an experienced digital marketing and communications professional to lead its online brand, engagement, and revenue-generating strategies with audiences across the nonprofit sector. The marketing function is essential to NLA and its ability to generate critical operating revenue from direct sales of its educational courses and other online offerings, while its communications enable it to stay engaged with its audiences as well as elevate its brand. In April 2026, NLA welcomed a new CEO with a bold vision to grow the organization’s reach and impact by increasing the number of nonprofit professionals it serves and raising the visibility and awareness of NLA and its work. This role will serve as a critical partner in that endeavor, helping to shape and execute marketing strategies that will strengthen the organization’s overall financial sustainability, brand reputation, and mission impact.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will oversee all marketing, communications, and design initiatives for the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. This role, which reports to the Chief Business Officer, is responsible for managing the organization’s brand and marketing strategy, digital presence, and communication channels to drive awareness, engagement, and growth. The Marketing and Communications Manager will collaborate with all departments and external partners to develop and execute creative, data-driven marketing strategies that elevate the mission and impact of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work in a remote environment independently; yet also value collaboration and input from colleagues and incorporate feedback to strengthen their work. This person is comfortable balancing independent ownership with being an engaged member of a mission-driven team.

This role is a great fit for an emerging marketing professional who is eager to expand their skills, take ownership of projects, and build a well-rounded marketing career. It's also an excellent opportunity for a seasoned marketing professional seeking greater flexibility while using their expertise to help shape the next chapter of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance's growth and impact. Above all, we're seeking someone who is creative, adaptable, and energized by the mission of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
