You can make a difference — from home!
Lemontree is a nonprofit that builds technology to help hungry families navigate food assistance. We run a food helpline that connects people to the free food resources in their communities, and we're hiring a bilingual (English/Spanish) Customer Service Specialist to join our remote team.
What You'll Do
You'll be on the front lines of our text-based helpline, helping people in need find local food resources with empathy and care.
- Respond to inbound text messages and very few phone calls
- Listen without judgment and refer clients to food resources
- Communicate with warmth, clarity, and cultural humility
- Collaborate closely with a small, passionate remote team
What We're Looking For
- Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken + written)
- Strong communicator with deep empathy and patience
- Typing speed of 50+ WPM
- Computer required, with strong/stable internet and a quiet place to work – you should have your own suitable remote work setup
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or community care is a plus!
- This job is 100% remote but must be located in Maryland, Texas, or Georgia
- Genuine availability and flexibility between 9am-6pm ET, any day Sunday through Saturday, is essential to this role, not just a preference on paper
- Able to consistently work 4-29 hours per week across 4-8 hour shifts, with reliable week to week follow through
Schedule
- Weekly hours range between 4 to 29 hours, weekly
- Shifts fall on any day Sunday through Saturday, between 9am and 6pm ET, typically 4 or 8 hour shifts depending on need
- Schedules are shared about a week in advance, so you'll have time to plan around your shifts
- Attendance at our weekly Friday team meeting (via Zoom, ~45 mins) is mandatory, with camera on. This applies to all team meetings and is a firm requirement of the role, not an optional part of the schedule.
This schedule is not fixed. Shift assignments change week to week based on helpline volume, team availability, holidays and operational needs. We're looking for someone who can reliably say yes to varying days and hours, including picking up additional shifts when the team needs coverage, and who is comfortable with a schedule that isn't the same from one week to the next.
Why Join Lemontree?
