    About The Share Trust

The Share Trust believes the people closest to a problem are best positioned to solve it. We work to shift power, processes, and funding directly to local actors in global development — and to build the evidence base that makes the case for doing so at scale.

    Our Core Values

Everything we do at the Share Trust is shaped by five core values:

    • Trust - delivering with integrity and mutual respect
    • Innovation and Rigor - achieving excellence through continuous learning
    • Learning Team - growing through shared knowledge and curiosity
    • Humility and Empathy - working together with compassion and openness
    • Inclusivity - creating a space where every voice is valued

We look for teammates who not only share these values but bring them to life in their everyday work.

    Position Overview

If you're ready to turn your day job into a force for global change, we want to hear from you.

The Share Trust is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to help drive significant growth in individual and

institutional philanthropic support at the $10,000+ level. This is an individual contributor role on a small,

high-performing Development team — the right person will thrive in an environment where strategy

    and execution are equally valued.

The Major Gifts Officer will manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects, lead the

Development team's proposal writing function for high-value asks, and play a central role in designing

and executing our fundraising salon program — an intimate, peer-driven cultivation strategy that has

become a cornerstone of our individual giving approach.

This role requires someone who can build genuine relationships with high-net-worth individuals and

family foundations, write compellingly about complex global development work, and bring energy and

creativity to donor cultivation events. You will work closely with the Director of Development, Executive

Director, Development Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and board members to advance the Share Trust's

    philanthropic mission.

    Responsibilities

    Major Gifts Portfolio Management

    • Manage a portfolio of 50–75 major gift prospects and donors at the $10,000+ level, with a focus

on identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Portfolio is expected to

grow toward 100 within 4 years.

    • Develop and execute individualized donor strategies in close coordination with the Director of

    Development and Executive Director.

    • Conduct regular donor meetings, site visit briefings, and stewardship touchpoints to deepen

    engagement and advance giving.

    • Maintain timely and accurate donor records in Raiser's Edge NXT, including contact reports,

moves management stages, and giving history.

    • Track portfolio metrics and provide regular pipeline updates for leadership and board

    development committee review.

    Proposal Writing and Funder Communications

    • Lead the drafting of major gift proposals, case statements, and customized funding pitches for

    individual donors and family foundations.

    • Write compelling donor-facing materials that translate the Share Trust's research and

programmatic work into accessible, persuasive narratives.

    • Collaborate with program, research, and communications staff to gather content and ensure

    accuracy in donor-facing materials.

    • Draft acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and other stewardship communications for the

    major gift's portfolio.

    • Support the Director of Development on institutional foundation proposals as needed,

particularly for funders with individual donor characteristics (e.g., family foundations).

    Fundraising Salons

    • Serve as the Development team's lead implementer for the Share Trust's fundraising salon

program — intimate cultivation events typically hosted in donors' homes or private venues in

    key cities.

    • Coordinate, together with our Development Officer, all aspects of salon logistics in partnership

with host donors, including guest list development, invitations, run-of-show, talking points, and

    follow-up cultivation plans.

    • Work with the Director of Development and Executive Director to identify and recruit salon

hosts and develop city-specific engagement strategies.

    • Draft pre- and post-salon donor communications and ensure timely follow-up with all attendees.
    • Track salon outcomes, conversions, and pipeline movement; contribute to ongoing refinement

    of the salon model.

    Donor Identification and Pipeline Development

    • Conduct prospect research to identify new major gift candidates from existing networks, board

    connections, and peer referrals.

    • Support moves management for mid-level donors ($1,000–$9,999) with major gift potential, in

coordination with the Director of Development.

    • Prepare briefing materials for Executive Director and board member donor meetings.
    • Contribute to the Development team's annual and multi-year revenue projections for the major

    gifts channel.

    Board Engagement

    • Partner with board members on donor introductions, co-cultivation, and peer-to-peer outreach

in support of major gift goals.

    • Support recruitment and engagement of salon hosts and other major-gift volunteers.

    What You Need to Succeed

    Required

    • 5–8 years of progressive fundraising experience, with a demonstrated track record of closing

major gifts at the $10,000+ level.

    • Exceptional writing skills — you produce polished, compelling donor proposals and

    communications with minimal editing.

    • Experience planning and executing donor cultivation events, including intimate salon- or house

    party-style gatherings.

    • Strong relationship management skills and genuine comfort with high-net-worth individuals and

    family foundation representatives.

    • Proficiency in a CRM system; experience with Raiser's Edge NXT or similar platforms is strongly

    preferred.

    • Ability to translate complex programmatic and research content into accessible, donor-centered

    narratives.

    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a large portfolio with multiple

    concurrent cultivation tracks.

    • Comfort working in a small, entrepreneurial team environment where priorities shift and

    initiative is valued.

    • Commitment to the Share Trust's mission and to the principles of locally led, community-driven

    development.

    Preferred

    • Experience in international development, humanitarian response, human rights, or global health

    fundraising.

    • Familiarity with the localization or locally led development space.
    • Experience using Asana for workflow management.
    • Existing relationships in the Bay Area, New York, or other major philanthropic markets.
    • Sense of humor — we work hard and like to enjoy what we do.

    What We Offer

At the Share Trust, we recognize that our team is central to achieving our ambitious mission. We are

committed to providing a comprehensive and supportive employment package that reflects the value of

    your contribution.

    • Mission-Driven Work — Join a dynamic, fast-paced team working to fundamentally shift the

global system, empowering Global Majority leaders with greater power and funding to help

communities become more resilient and self-directed.

the value you bring to our mission.

    • Robust Benefits Package — 4 weeks of paid leave, 5 paid sick days, 11 flexible holidays, and an

    optional retirement plan (after 6 months). Health insurance with partial employee contribution;

optional dental, vision, and HSA plans.

    • Flexible, Remote Work — This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be able to commit to

work hours with significant overlap with the Eastern Time zone. Some domestic and

international travel is expected for donor cultivation and team gatherings.
