    Job Description

    The People Operations Manager reports to the Chief People Officer and is responsible for proactively managing The Shed’s People Operations programs, procedures, and processes. We’re in search of a qualified and resourceful People Operations Manager to support our People Operations department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The People Operations Manager will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping us to plan and administer important functions, such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits. This role has the unique opportunity to work across all departments, at all levels of leadership, and directly impact teams.

    Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

    • Responsible for managing HR core functional areas: benefit strategy and administration, including Annual Enrollment and Life Events; retirement plan administration; recruitment and onboarding; compliance administration; policy implementation; training and development; performance management.
    • Oversee HRIS database administration and management; review and ensure accuracy of all data entry completed by People Operations Associate
    • Liaison with staff members on any People Operations issues, ensuring timely response to staff member requests and smooth delivery of HR services
    • Partner with department leaders on rollout of key HR initiatives; coach managers on various HR best practices such as staffing plans, job descriptions, performance management, identifying and addressing employee needs, and advising on staff departures
    • Manage employee relations, including but not limited to fielding complaints, leading investigations, escalating any issues to Chief People Officer or legal counsel
    • Strategize on employee engagement and experience initiatives for staff
    • Partner with hiring managers to recruit and on-board employees
    • Maintain all People Operations assets and collateral
    • Support staff in all People Operations inquiries and employee requests, as needed
    • Partner with the CPO on training initiatives related to HR policies and procedures
    • Manage the administration of agency-wide performance appraisal programs
    • Assess and make recommendations on HR policies; processes and procedures including HRIS management in effort to drive efficiencies and effectiveness
    • Provide ongoing support to Chief People Officer with strategy, reporting, and project management
    • Perform other projects and HR duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Qualities

    • Eight or more years of progressive HR/People Operations Manager experience
    • Experience in people management and coaching managers
    • Start-up/entrepreneurial drive and cultural arts institution experience is preferred
    • Experience working with ADP HRIS and Greenhouse ATS as well as Google and Microsoft suites
    • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding in dealing with sensitive employee issues
    • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a highly motivated, energetic team
    • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment is required
    • Ability to manage and prioritize time, demonstrate pushback and a sense of urgency, and understand the value of providing impeccable customer service
    • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal employment law and regulations

    Compensation

    The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $95,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
