    About Us

    ACPMP is a dedicated non-profit committed to supporting and funding educational programs for the medical and patient community, supporting and funding research to develop new treatments, and raising awareness for appendiceal cancer, a rare and challenging cancer that is on the rise. The ACPMP team is driven by the urgency to improve outcomes and provide a lifeline for patients and their families.

    Position Overview

    The Executive Director (ED) is the chief visionary and operational leader of ACPMP. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for successfully executing the organization's mission, driving strategic growth, and overseeing day-to-day operations. Because this is a small organization, the ED must be a hands-on leader who is comfortable balancing high-level strategy with essential administrative execution. The ideal candidate is an empathetic, business-minded leader who can scale programs, engage an active Board, and serve as a compelling advocate for the rare cancer community.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Development

    • Lead and manage all fundraising activities, to grow and diversify ACPMPs revenue through:
      • Major donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
      • Securing Corporate Sponsorships
      • Event Fundraising Activities
      • Grant proposal development and reporting.
    • Create and execute an annual development plan to achieve annual fundraising goals for individual revenue channels.
    • Oversee planning, execution and strategic follow up for all fundraising events, peer-to-peer campaigns, and awareness drives.
    • Lead fundraising engagement with the board and key volunteers.
    • Ensure compliance by managing fundraising state registration requirements.

    Patient Advocacy & Support

    • Serve as the primary liaison and empathetic advocate for the rare cancer patient community.
    • Help patients and caregivers access available resources to navigate this rare cancer, including, as applicable, clinical trials and other potential treatment options.
    • Oversee and expand patient support programs, educational resources, and community outreach programs.
    • Evaluate program impact and ensure services remain responsive to the needs of the community.

    Strategic Leadership & Board Relations

    • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute the organization's strategic plan and annual goals.
    • Act as the chief spokesperson and public face of the organization, raising visibility in the rare cancer space.
    • Build strategic partnerships with medical professionals and their affiliates, research institutions, and other health organizations.

    Operations & Financial Management

    • Lead financial planning, including the development and monitoring of the annual budget in partnership with the Board.
    • Manage day-to-day administration, ensuring compliance with all legal, tax, and 501(c)(3) requirements.
    • Manage the Staff payroll process and annual performance evaluations
    • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Proficiency in accounting fundamentals and CRM Donor systems-QuickBooks online, Threshold, Pay pal etc.
    • Manage Business related Insurance policies and renewal including workers compensation, Cyber and General Liability.

    Awareness & Research

    • Advocate for appendiceal cancer research funding and clinical trial access, including leading ACPMP’s Research Grant and Patient Registry Programs.
    • Strategize, collaborate, and respond to research funding and other support-related inquiries from medical and scientific community.
    • Monitor scientific publications and other trade press and news to keep pace with developments of interest to the appendix cancer community.
    • Lead marketing, social media, and awareness campaigns to elevate the organization's public profile.
    • Liaise with ACPMP’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Boards to capture best thinking on areas of research and education for increased strategic focus.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: 5+ years of senior leadership experience in the non-profit or healthcare sector, with a proven track record of fundraising, board or volunteer management, and programmatic leadership. Strategic Planning experience a plus.
    • Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal and networking skills; highly comfortable with public speaking and advocacy.
    • Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced, and remote work environment.
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, public health, business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    • Personal Attributes: High integrity, transparent leadership style, and deep empathy for individuals and families affected by cancer.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency with CRM/donor management software, Virtuous, Pay Pal, Go Fund Me Pro, Gusto/ Payroll system. Office, Zoom.
