We are currently looking for a candidate to help staff the tween/teen group but will interact with all ages.
The Sunday Child-Care / Nursery Aide position supports UUCGN’s commitment to being a truly welcoming congregation by ensuring that families with children can participate fully in Sunday worship and congregational life. Youth are educated in UU values and traditions, building relationship skills and community. By providing attentive, nurturing care in the nursery, this role makes it possible for parents and caregivers to engage in spiritual growth and community connection with confidence that their children are safe, supported, and valued.

Job Qualifications:
- Education degree preferred, or at least 2 years of experience in working with groups of children such as scouting, camps, etc.
- Positive disposition with children and parents; steady presence for the children.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Knowledge of multicultural education materials.
- Comfortable covering other age groups to meet safety requirements as needed
- Basic computer skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review the weekly activities and execute the planned curriculum for the age group as outlined by the RE Coordinator.
- Keeps in touch using modern communication tools, prompt responses to text and emails.
- Prepare room before use on Sunday
- Provide childcare 2 hours (1/2 hour prior to and after the service) as needed by others (i.e., worship service leaders, volunteers’ teachers, hospitality, etc.)
- Greets children and parents and collects an emergency number in case their child needs them. Checks off on attendance (s) assigned to the group and briefly share what is planned for the morning.
- Ensures that two people (the Child-Care Aide plus an adult or teen volunteer) are in attendance in the room to comply with our Child Protective Policy.
- Works as a team member with volunteers and staff for a positive Sunday experience for all.
- Keeps up to date on all safety and emergency procedures in coordination with the
Director and Safety Committee.
- Participates in all required orientations and training.
- Child Protective and Sexual Harassment Policies must be recertified annually
- Maintains a log of activity. Alerts DRE or Office Manager for both children and families needing educational materials for use.
- Keeps private information related to a congregant or colleague, confidential. If in doubt as to what that might be, ask a supervisor.
After Sunday School/Service:
- Cleans up at the end of Sunday sessions.
- Reports attendance to DRE, or the Office Manager if the DRE isn’t working that Sunday.
Nivel de Idiomas
Fluency in English is required.
