    The Pension Rights Center is a national nonprofit consumer organization that works to protect and promote the retirement income security of workers, retirees, and their families.

    Position Summary

    The Pension Rights Center (PRC) is accepting candidates to fill the open Program Associate position, a full-time hybrid opportunity based in Washington, D.C. The Program Associate coordinates the Center’s communications, legal, policy and fundraising activities and provides administrative support to the Center’s staff.

    Responsibilities

    COMMUNICATIONS

    • Coordinate the Center’s communications activities
      • Manage the Center’s WordPress-based CMS, ensuring site functionality and regularly updating with content
      • Write and disseminate the Center’s quarterly newsletter
      • Oversee and create content for the Center’s social media pages
      • Coordinate responses to media inquiries, conduct outreach to reporters, and maintain records of press engagement activities
      • Manage and develop the Center’s email outreach with a focus on audience expansion
      • Maintain Center’s Google Ads and Analytics accounts
      • Produce cross-channel analytics to assess impact of communications activities
    • Support fundraising activities and grant management
      • Participate in planning and logistical coordination of semi-annual fundraising events
      • Work with Center staff to develop and disseminate annual donor appeals
      • Assist in writing regular grant reports and attending regular meetings with grant managers
      • Document progress towards and completion of grant deliverables and ensure compliance with grant requirements

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    • Support the PRC’s legal and policy program operations
      • Work with staff to develop public education-focused blogs, fact sheets, press releases, and other content
      • Respond to inquiries from individuals seeking assistance with retirement benefit issues and document interactions in the Center’s Salesforce-based case management system
      • Support coordination of the Center’s policy initiatives, including Congressional outreach, development and submission of comments and testimony, and conducting and compiling research to advance the Center’s policy goals
      • Coordinate the Center’s Initiative on Women and Retirement at Divorce, providing project management and stakeholder engagement support
      • Provide outreach support to six regional Pension Counseling Projects, assisting with client success story drafting and publication, development of outreach materials, and coordination of quarterly outreach meetings
      • Assist in planning and implementation of annual multi-day legal conference
    • Provide administrative support for policy and legal program projects
      • Manage office deadlines and coordinate competing priorities across projects
      • Coordinate staff schedules and organize meetings with multiple stakeholders
      • Maintain shared organizational filing systems and support staff access to records and resources
      • Provide assistance and support to Executive Director

    The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities in a small, mission-driven nonprofit environment. This position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance communications, programmatic, development, and administrative responsibilities across multiple ongoing initiatives.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least three years of professional communications and project management experience.
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms and audiences
    • Experience with website maintenance
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage several projects and deadlines at once
    • A creative self-starter who can work well independently but also take direction and work as part of a team
    • A desire to learn about retirement income issues and make an impact
