    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The HRL Program Coordinator provides crucial support to the Healthy and Ready to Learn (HRL) department, facilitating program execution through coordination, innovative ideas, and community-centered communication. This role combines schools and community based outreach efforts with essential behind-the-scenes tasks, including content creation and visual storytelling. The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that HRL’s workshops, events, and deliverables are meticulously organized, culturally sensitive, and deeply rooted in the experiences of families and school communities.

    This position is ideal for individuals who are bilingual (Spanish/English), detail-oriented, creative, adaptable, and dedicated to advancing health and learning equity for children and families throughout New York City.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Program and Event Coordination:

    • Support the preparation and execution of HRL workshops and events, including printing materials, preparing supplies, tracking attendance, and coordinating schedules.
    • Provide day-of support at school and community events as needed.
    • Participate in planning meetings and track follow-up tasks to ensure timely deliverables.
    • Maintain organized digital files (sign-in sheets, photo releases, workshop templates).
    • Enter attendance or satisfaction survey data as needed.

    Content and Visual Materials Support

    • Facilitate the design and formatting of accessible, clear, and visually appealing flyers, slide presentations, and event materials.
    • Collaborate with program staff to co-create materials based on draft content, research, or community feedback.
    • Support translation and uploading of content for presentations and the RTC website.

    Outreach and Social Media

    • Assist with outreach to schools, parent coordinators, and community partners to confirm logistics and promote HRL programming.
    • Represent HRL at events, tabling opportunities, or partner meetings as needed.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact lists and engagement records.
    • Manage HRL’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook), including scheduling posts, covering events, and creating campaigns.
    • Develop and maintain a basic content calendar to showcase HRL’s ongoing work and impact.
    • Coordinate with the Program Operations Manager to ensure consistent messaging aligned with HRL goals and priorities.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    • 2+ years of experience in education, nonprofit, community engagement, or school-based settings.
    • Experience working with parents, families, or school staff in diverse communities.
    • Ability to independently coordinate logistics and follow through on tasks.
    • Strong communication skills and a warm, approachable presence.
    • Comfort with visual design tools (Google Slides, Canva, etc.) and social media platforms.
    • Creative, collaborative, and eager to learn.
    • Strong organizational skills .
    • Passion for the well-being of children and an understanding of the challenges faced by schools where HRL provides services, including socioeconomic disparities, language barriers, and limited access to healthcare resources.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
    • Flexibility, empathy, and creativity.
    • Having a sense of humor is helpful.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Travel between partner schools across all five boroughs of New York City is required.
    • Occasional evening or weekend workshops may be necessary.

    Location:

    Children’s Health Fund provides a hybrid onsite/remote work environment. This role must be based in the New York City metropolitan area in order to attend scheduled training at NYC locations or required meetings at CHF headquarters.
