    The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) is seeking a dedicated Communications Intern to assist with a range of media and public-information projects. This is a unique opportunity for those interested in international justice, media, communications, and civil society engagement.

    The Coalition for the International Criminal Court is the world’s largest civil society partnership advancing the global fight against impunity for serious international crimes. Its membership and work are facilitated by its International Secretariat, with staff in New York and The Hague.

    As the CICC Communications Intern, you will work closely with the Coalition’s Communications and Campaign Officer, contributing to key media and outreach activities. Your responsibilities will span content creation, graphic design, media monitoring, and logistical coordination.

    Contribute to global justice

    You will play a role in advancing the Coalition’s mission to promote accountability for grave international crimes, contributing directly to the fight against impunity.

    Work with inspiring human rights defenders and civil society representatives

    Collaborate with and learn from passionate advocates for human rights and international justice from around the world, gaining insights into their work and strategies.

    Networking opportunities

    Take part in the Annual Session of the ICC Assembly of States Parties, a high-level forum that brings together representatives from governments, international organisations, NGOs, and the ICC. This is an opportunity to expand your professional network in the international justice and human rights sectors.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Content creation

    • Support the drafting, translation, and development of a wide range of communication materials, including website content, social media posts, press releases, and articles, in coordination with CICC Communications staff and tailored to the Coalition’s strategic objectives.
    • Assist with live coverage of events such as trials, hearings, or press briefings, including drafting real-time posts under guidance.
    • Support the development of scripts for video content and assist with subtitling and captioning in multiple languages.

    Media and social media monitoring

    • Monitor and compile news related to ICC developments and civil society work, using these insights to support the development of bimonthly newsletters.
    • Compile weekly news summaries for internal use.

    Design and visual communications

    • Use tools such as Canva, Adobe InDesign or Illustrator to design campaign visuals, event flyers, and social media assets.
    • Prepare simple data visualisations or infographics to communicate complex legal or political issues more accessibly.
    • Ensure brand guidelines are respected across visuals.

    Event communications

    • Assist in the planning and execution of communications deliverables for CICC side events at the 24th Session of the ICC Assembly of States Parties, amongst others.
    • Contribute to post-event visibility by supporting the preparation of visual content, event summaries, and other follow-up materials.

    Person requirements

    • Proven background in Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Journalism, Law, International Human Rights or related disciplines
    • Native or professional level written and oral fluency in English, and in French or Spanish, is required. Working proficiency in Ukrainian is considered an asset.
    • Interest in international law and justice with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of combating impunity for international crimes.
    • Excellent written and oral communication, research and analytical skills.
    • Experience with graphic design and editing tools such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with the ability to create visually appealing content for social media, publications, and website updates.
    • Effective team player with the ability to work and think independently, and to be resourceful and proactive.
    • Adaptability and flexibility, as the role may involve various tasks and shifting priorities based on the needs of the Coalition for the ICC.
    • Knowledge and interest in still and video photography is considered an asset.
    • Previous non-profit experience will be considered be an asset.
