    Dates: September 2025–December 2025, with option to continue

    Number of Hours: M–F | 5–10 hours per week | Based in Bay Area, CA

    Wage: $20.50/hour

    Reports to: Program Manager of Community Reading Buddies

    About the Position:

    Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Intern will support the administration of CRB’s fall reading program, which is expected to serve 250 students altogether over the course of our nine-week program. The intern position will run from September to mid-December and assist in planning and managing the CRB reading sessions.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Help run at least 2 reading sessions starting on September 15, 2025
    • Assist program coordinators in planning and facilitating Youth Mentor trainings that will take place during the week of Sept 15, 2025
    • Assist program coordinators in organizing materials and activities for the data and documentation of the fall program (making sure documents are updated at all times, exporting data, checking volunteer hours against attendance, checking mandatory volunteer file uploading, etc.)
    • Maintain Youth Mentor (high-school volunteers) and Buddy (elementary students) attendance records and follow up on absences
    • Contact participant families as needed throughout the program with questions or concerns
    • Create breakout rooms in Zoom and help with tech issues during reading sessions
    • Assist at in-person reading sessions at local Oakland elementary schools, if needed
    • Monitor breakout rooms and support Youth Mentors during reading sessions as needed
    • Help facilitate small group discussions with Youth Mentors during the reading sessions
    • Attend weekly team meetings to discuss the week's reading sessions
    • Other duties and tasks as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Have a passion for reading, literacy, and working with youth
    • Experience working with children, preferably at the lower elementary school level
    • Ability to communicate well with teens, young children, and parents
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
    • Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at once
    • Familiarity with Zoom and Google Suite
    • Located in Bay Area, CA with ability to complete hybrid work as needed
    • Ability to work part-time; particular preference for candidates who have availability between 4PM-7:30PM Mondays through Thursdays.
