Who We Are

Green Generations (GG) is a nonprofit committed to providing self-esteem and mindfulness education for K-8 children in New York City, programming essential to closing the achievement gap. We at GG recognize that poverty and its related stresses have a devastating effect on children’s ability to succeed. We are dedicated to reducing these barriers to academic and social success by empowering children and families with the tools necessary to alleviate the stresses of poverty while also inspiring generations of change-makers within their communities.

What We Do

We offer in- and after-school programs through school partnerships established in under-served and high-risk communities. Our programs are based on an innovative and unique five-pillar curriculum focusing on emotional well-being, nutritional empowerment, environmental stewardship, ethical & compassionate leadership, and gratitude & celebration. Programs typically run for 15 weeks each during the fall and spring semesters, but may be tailored to fit the needs of the individual school partnership. These principles help children develop self-esteem, self-care, resilience and leadership skills, as well as providing the building blocks for making lifelong healthy decisions.
