One in 7 adults in the United States already has diabetes. That number is growing, nationally and globally. It is expected that 1 in 3 adults in the US will be diagnosed with diabetes by 2050 and that over 600 million adults worldwide will have diabetes by 2040. Because there is no single solution to the diabetes epidemic, The diaTribe Foundation employs multiple strategies to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes and prediabetes and to change the dialogue about diabetes. A growing national 501(c)-certified nonprofit organization, we focus our program efforts on education, advocacy, and outreach as we strive to create a political and cultural shift that will reduce the burden of diabetes worldwide and allow people with diabetes to live healthier, happier, more hopeful lives.

Founded in 2013 by renowned diabetes advocate Kelly Close as an extension of her work in the field, our Foundation reaches nearly two million people every year with the free online patient resource, diaTribe.org. In addition, we are persistent and influential advocates, bringing the patient voice to the FDA and policy makers nationwide. Finally, as a highly networked and deeply respected organization, we convene the brightest minds across sectors to develop innovative solutions to the type 2 diabetes epidemic.
