Sweet Farm Foundation is a 501(c)(3) farm animal sanctuary and environmental nonprofit located in the Finger Lakes region of New York.
At Sweet Farm Foundation, we believe that compassion grows when we care for animals, for the land, and for each other. We rescue farm animals and wildlife, regeneratively grow vegetables for local families in need, and incubate tech start-ups whose ideas translate into real-world impact — creating healthier communities and a more resilient planet.
Sweet Farm Foundation was founded in 2015 by Anna Sweet and Nate Salpeter, who created an organization that combines animal rescue, hands-on agriculture programs, and educational experiences that empower people to take personal steps that make profound impacts on the lives of farm animals, the environment, and one’s personal health.
To achieve our mission Sweet Farm educates, encourages, and facilitates positive and sustainable change through individuals’ everyday choices while also driving global impact through the support of innovative technologies that reduce and eliminate the need for animals in the system.
Farm Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation - We rescue and rehabilitate farm animals who come from various circumstances. These animals act as ambassadors to spread the message that they are unique, caring beings who deserve our compassion and respect.
Farm Animal Education - Our educational programs increase awareness around issues related to animal welfare, factory farming, and sustainability. These initiatives take many forms including on the farm events, tours, volunteer days, and community outreach, as well as online education and advocacy that reaches a global audience.
Agricultural Programs - We offer hands-on agriculture-based programs to provoke meaningful experiences that inspire people to bring greater awareness to the ways they source, prepare, and eat food. We celebrate biodiversity and grow heirloom, open-pollinated seeds using sustainable methods free of animal-based inputs. We make these incredible crops available to our community through our 24/7 pay-what-you-can farmstand, donations to local food banks and community gardens, and partnerships with local grocers and restaurateurs.
Technology and Start-up Support Programs – We partner with innovative start-up companies in the humane and sustainable technology sector to provide them with a diverse range of support, including mentorship and advisory support in raising capital, expanded networking, and product showcasing and promotion. We believe innovation is a key component in driving scaled global change.
At Sweet Farm we revere the well-being of our planet and all beings on it, be it four-legged, feathered, or human. We emphasize the need to understand what affects one’s daily food decisions have on animals and the planet. We champion progress over perfection and honor small changes that lead to big impact.
