LUS LABS LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE INC

Lu's Labs is an all volunteer, 501(c)3 approved foster-based rescue based in Alexandria, Virginia. We rescue labrador retriever and labrador mixes from high-kill shelters throughout the Southeastern US and rehome them in a five-hour radius of the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Lu's Labs was established in 2015 with the sole mission of saving the lives of as many labs as possible.

A large number of the dogs that we rescue come from dire situations - high-kill shelters, abandonment or emergencies. Most of our rescues need medical attention for things as minor as updating shots to serious medical conditions that cost thousands of dollars. Additionally, approximately one-third of the dogs are heartworm positive. We provide all their medical care, including heartworm treatment, and have never turned a dog away, despite any medical care they might need.

In just four years, over 1200 dogs have been saved and placed into their forever homes by Lu's Labs. And, this year, we are working to meet a goal of saving 500 dogs! In three years, we have grown from only a handful of volunteers to a network of over 100 volunteers (Southern and Northern foster families, adoption coordinators, transport volunteers, and board members).
