    Mission

Amaanah Refugee Services mission is to assist refugees with integration into American society.

    The Beginning

With the urge to giveback running in their blood, a small group of University of Houston students came together in 2006 and discovered the large-scale depravity of thousands of isolated refugees in their own city. After trying to help by collecting food and clothing, they quickly realized that giving short-term support would not offer sustainable solutions for the many obstacles facing refugees. As a result, in 2008, Amaanah Refugee Services (http://www.refugeelink.com) was established to not only help families acquire general day-to-day necessities, but also provide afterschool support to children, and skill development for adults entering the workforce. From a handful of volunteers at its inception to now over 600 strong, Amaanah’s mission is to serve as a friend to all refugees, committed to rebuilding their journey towards self-sufficiency and complete integration as productive members of American society.

Amaanah Refugee Services is designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity with tax ID number 26-3047598. Amaanah does not discriminate against any person or group on the basis of political affiliation, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, or religious belief.
