The vision of Willits Community Services (WCS) is to help empower our community  with opportunities for hope, self-sufficiency, abundance and prosperity.

Our Mission

The mission of Willits Community Services is to provide temporary assistance services to households and individuals in crisis. WCS also provides referrals to other community or regional resources and gives assistance to clients in cultivating additional life skills.

Our History

Willits Community Services, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, charitable organization,  began in 1981 through the efforts of a few dedicated individuals who had a vision of a community based organization that would help serve the needs of the hungry and otherwise disadvantaged population of the greater Willits area. The services were strictly food distribution. Interest in bringing other services to the community developed rapidly. A major effort was developed to create a “Little Lake Community Center,” to provide varied social and human services through a readily available storefront access model. That name did not stick, but Willits Community Services, Inc. was formally established in 1985 and now provides a variety of comprehensive safety net and community enrichment programs for the greater Willits and north county areas of Mendocino County.

Willits Community Services looks forward to continuing and expanding its role in helping to improve the quality of life for the people of our greater Willits and north county communities of Mendocino County.
