Whinberry Academy Early Childhood Development Centre

Whinberry Academy ECDC is a nursery school / creche / day care centre / pre-school in the suburb of Bendor in Polokwane. Whinberry Academy serves babies from 3 months old up to 5 year old pre-schoolers. Our hours are 5am to 7pm, week days, all year round.

Formal Curriculum

We are first and foremost, an educational institution. We believe every child is intelligent. Our academic programme is designed to meet best practices in international and national standards of early childhood education. We are appropriately rigorous, believing staunchly that play-is-children’s-work. Pillars of our curriculum include vocabulary development, expanding young children’s innate sense of mathematics, creative and critical thinking, regular indoor movement, daily outdoor play, and conflict resolution.

Co-Curricular Offerings

In addition to the music syllabus and structured physical activities in and out of the classroom, Whinberry Academy will directly offer parents a variety of other opportunities. Currently in negotiation are Instrument Lessons, Swim Classes, Computer Courses, Sports Leagues, Athletics & Gymnastics, and much, much more. We are also exploring exciting child care and home work assistance experiences for the older siblings of our students. Whinberry Academy - pioneering child development and family support in action!

Hygiene, Safety & Security

A priority for us is the safety, security and general well being of every child and all our staff. Our hygiene standards are high and our child protection system looks to the mandates of the Department of Basic Education, of Safety and Security, and of Justice. We also embrace international tenants. We are uncompromising in protecting children and adults from physical, social and emotional harm or threat.

Nutrition

Our meals and snacks are developed, prepared and served carefully, guided by standards surpassing typical national and international provisions. Nutrition is very important to us and the feeding regiments of infants will be guided one-baby-at-a-time, by parents. Allergies are considered and out of respect for various religions, we are a no-pork environment.
