Acerca de

SCRAP is an arts education nonprofit founded in 1976 in San Francisco, California. SCRAP breathes new life into gently used arts and crafts supplies and reduces waste by diverting over 200 tons of materials from landfills each year. We focus on three key areas of impact:

  • Education: We support public school teachers and students by providing free classroom supplies to thousands of Bay Area youth each year. SCRAP's free weekly arts education classes in our Bayview and Mission neighborhood provide thousands of creative enrichment hours to children through a social and environmental lens.
  • Environment: By diverting more than 200 tons of materials from landfills annually, SCRAP immensely reduces pollution and waste. All of our programs utilize recycled materials to teach art-making alongside environmental stewardship.
  • Arts: SCRAP is famous for our 5000 square foot retail depot in the Bayview, providing artists, families, students, and community members with the art supplies they need at very low cost. We provide frequently community art workshops and annual events celebrating Bay Area artists.
