Carfree DC’s mission is to promote carfree development that enhances local and global environmental quality, improves personal health, and fosters a sense of community. Carfree DC Day will celebrate the streets as public space, educate the public as to the need for sustainable transportation policy, and demonstrate support for alternatives to cars. Our goal is to demonstrate the benefits of reducing car use: more green space, tighter communities, better mass transit, cleaner air, and happier, healthier people.
