To connect the microfinance community through events, online services and opportunities for collaboration.

Strategy

SeaMo hosts networking events and speakers series and provides a website that serves as an events calendar, jobs board, community forum, and news source. Our home base is Seattle, and we are interested in working with the microfinance community in other cities to set up similar networks. History

In April of 2007, our founders were discussing microfinance and how they could become involved beyond financial contributions. In the process of researching ideas and discussing proposals, the founding board had grown from the original two to eight local professionals with diverse skills. By the fall of 2008, SeaMo had hosted a series of Microfinance and Microbrews, featuring local microfinance organizations, and had linked dozens of local organizations on collaborative projects. The next phase for SeaMo is to strengthen our online presence and to introduce new event formats.
