Florida State University Foundation Established in 1960, the Florida State University Foundation, Inc. enhances the academic vision and priorities of Florida State University through its organized fundraising activities and funds management. The Foundation, a non-profit corporation, today manages an endowment that exceeds $360 million and has total assets of more than $465 million (as of December 31, 2009). The role of the Foundation is to raise funds to support the academic initiatives of the university, establishing scholarships and fellowships, enhancing academic programs, and creating professorships and eminent scholar chairs. As a result, the university has been able to attract promising young scholars, propel its academic status and appeal to the nation’s highly recognized educators. All fundraising activities except for athletics are organized through the University's Foundation (FSUF). The Foundation accomplishes its mission by:
Fostering relationships with alumni and friends, advocating charitable giving, and raising funds on behalf of FSU Soliciting contributions for academic purposes as part of FSU’s overall advancement effort Investing and disbursing funds to meet current and future needs of FSU and Strengthening relationships with donors to FSU
The FSUF is governed by a 50-member Board of Trustees. The President of the Foundation is accountable to the President of the University and serves as an ex-officio member of the Board. There are currently 85 full-time employees of the Foundation, including 30 on the major gifts staff. Plans are to grow the staff by 15-20 over the next three years in order to prepare for the public launch of the campaign. Most of the growth will be to add major gift officers, a regional development staff, and additional resources in stewardship and advancement services.
