Shady Hill School Auxiliary Programs

Shady Hill School wants children to be joyful, active learners who develop the intellectual discipline necessary to become contributing, ethical citizens. To accomplish these ends, we believe in the primacy of exploration and discovery, we advance the mastery of skills, and we help students shape meaning from knowledge.

The Afterschool Program provides a stimulating, fun environment in which children can use their imaginations, develop friendships, and test their abilities. From school dismissal until 6:00 PM, Afterschool offers a variety of choice-based opportunities for our students, including gardening, cooking, yoga, engineering, studio arts, music, and dance. Additionally, it provides a quiet, supportive space for students in Grades III and up to work on their homework.

By collaborating with visiting instructors and working with organizations such as museums, universities, and arts organizations, the Afterschool Program develops new curriculum and offers students engaging activities.
