THE CHILDREN AT RISK FOUNDATION - CARF

CARF's target population in Brazil are abandoned street children and other at-risk community children and young people. Our MISSION - To defend the rights of abandoned street children and other children at risk, offering them a dignified and definitive solution so that they may live and grow within a family-oriented context and healthy social environment. Our major undertaking since 2002 has been the establishment and development of our Hummingbird Cultural Network for Artistic and Cultural Expression against violence. The Hummingbird Arts & Cultural Activity Centre is the base for our Street Migration Prevention Program, attending the needs of more than 600 at-risk children and young people in our underprivileged community, in the region of the southern periphery of São Paulo. Between 2007 to 2010, CARF aims to amplify their programmes through the creation of a network of new centres, including a community radio station and News Agency.
