Olympic Neighbors

Olympic Neighbors is a nonprofit dedicated to creating home and community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

We provide affordable housing with 24-hour staff support to adults with IDD in East Jefferson County, Washington . We also offer a series of educational course to adults with developmental disabilities and host community events that bring together people with and without disabilities in a supported environment. We hope to grow our program to serve a larger number of people and to encourage other organizations to develop these much-needed services in areas around the state. 

Olympic Neighbors operates the only Adult Family Home, Hamilton House, in all of Jefferson County for people with IDD. Adult Family Homes:

•   Are regular houses in a regular neighborhoods
• Can serve up to six residents in each home
• Offer low cost rent and assistance with food and utilities
•  Include 24-hour staff support to help residents with:

 - Hygiene and grooming, shopping and meal preparation, and bill paying,

- Increasing communication skills,

- Understanding how to share a home with roommates,

- Engaging in employment, volunteer work or classes,

 - Participation in groups, hobbies, and recreational and spiritual activities,

- Developing meaningful relationships with others

- Maintain good physical health

 - And are a cost-effective piece of the solution to helping people with IDD live independently
