A Home of Their Own (AHOTO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.
AHOTO was founded in 2024 by a group of longtime animal rescue professionals who wanted to make it easier for people to adopt—and for animals to find lasting, loving homes. The organization was built on the idea that the adoption process should be transparent, supportive, and positive for everyone involved.
AHOTO is different. At AHOTO, we are committed to saving as many dogs and cats as we can while also striving to find the best possible forever homes for each and every dog and cat in our care. We work with applicants to find the right pet for them which, in turn, allows us to find a great fit for that dog or cat.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats adopted from us doesn’t end once the adoption contract is signed. We offer education, training, outreach, and the support needed to create a community of happy adopters and their pets.
