The mission of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is to stabilize and empower current and former farmworkers and their families by developing and managing service-enriched, affordable housing in the communities of northwest Oregon.
The Housing Development Corporation is a twenty-four year old non-profit community development corporation dedicated to providing supportive housing and services to agricultural workers in a five-county area of northwest Oregon. The HDC recently expanded its mission to serve former farmworkers, which includes many Latinos working in low-wage jobs. As the state’s oldest and largest community development corporation addressing farmworker housing, the HDC now owns and operates 233 multi-family affordable rental units in four communities, serving nearly 1,300 farmworkers, and our newest project, Adelante Familias, will nearly double our housing units. HDC has built and sold five lease-to-own homes to farmworker families. Our on-site Community Learning Centers offer free and low-cost services to our residents and neighbors, including: information and referral to health and social services, workforce development and linkage to job resources, enrollment in the Oregon Health Plan, and youth recreation programs, among others.
