American Film Institute Silver Theatre and Cultural Center

The AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is located in downtown Silver Spring, MD. Founded in Washington, DC in 1967, the American Film Institute (AFI) is a world-renowned institution providing leadership in educating, honoring and celebrating America’s most publically accessible art form, film. In the Washington region AFI carries forward a 40-year tradition of programming excellence that for over three decades called the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts its home, and since 2003 has been proudly presented at its new home in downtown Silver Spring. The AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is widely recognized as one of the premier and most advanced film exhibition centers in the United States.
